I wont even talk about all the nepotism. Let me just tell you about the reality for an owner.

Toonami

A horse with a few issues but has pace and with the right programme he has a chance to be competitive.

So there is a MR66 race in the programme. He gets prepared for that race
The race gets scrapped
Lezanne has no choice but to run him in a higher rated race
The day of said higher rated race she gets a call 66 MR added again
NOW we fucked, cant scratch him because the 66 is within 12 days
Have to run him and deal with post race issues he has

HOW can this happen in 2017

did you attempt to get him scratched by asking the stipes for special permission considering the abovementioned?

I am hopeful the Lezanne did try that but I don't have that information.

but this I am sure happens to many owners/ trainers especially with abandoned meetings etc.

Instead of making a wish list that would make the overall product work better they seem to be focused on the wrong things all the time.

So a simple thing like self scratching based on going / programme changes and then being allowed to race within 24 hours seems a no brainer

another simple "fix" would be a brunch race meetings.

free entry into race courses

a proper contribution to formgrids (knowledge and information is key)

A free to air programme on Saturday mornings with people like Zorro, Derrick Flynn , Frankie Zaki
the equivalent in the Cape and KZN, talking about PUNTING/ coups/stories thats what people want entertainment with a chance of a slightly different angle into a race

TGIF may sound like a brilliant idea to GC,but when one sees what actually runs week in and week out @ these meetings it's no wonder turnover is down.

Tonights meeting has 3 mdns where the highest rated horse is a 3 yr old rated 69.3 MR 62's,a MR 66 and a MR 86.

This is rubbish racing!

If it was like this occasionally it wouldn't be too bad,but this is about the same offering each and every week for 9 months of the year.

The Greyville meetings tonight,on Sunday and on Wednesday are all poly! Why?

the program is catering for the horse population in natal and i agree with you as the friday fare from pe has a far better quality horse running and they always seem to have a top division or feature race as a topliner on the card....as for no grass racing at greyville they protecting the grass track for the season surely?

If they are indeed catering for the population then we should have far more conditions races. The USA are leaders in this field. They communicate with the trainers and then publish races like this.

1600m Open to Maidens with a rating of 66-78 , 2 time winners and any horse that has not won a race in the last 84 days.

or

1000m sfor all horses that have not won more than 6 races and not won 2 races in the last 12 months.

this is derived from COMMUNICATION with trainers.

I'm sure they probably are protecting the grass. That's not my problem though,I didn't sell Clairwood or cause any of the other problems that GC have.

I'm a customer of the industry who's spend on the tote has been reduced dramatically as of the result of the fact that I'm not prepared to speculate on that crap racing that they are dishing up.

A reduction in turnovers must mean others feel the same?

Tabonline did a site update at the beginning of last year I think it was.

They have a 'last bet selection' button that one can use to bring up your previous bet if you would like to make one or two adjustments to the previous bet taken before placing another bet.The problem is if one uses this then the system somehow just adds selections of it's own to the previously selected perm.

Despite my calls to inform them of this nothing has been done about it in a whole year.

Taking the open bet is just easier than trying to get incompetent people to listen to one.

We can't help these people who simply aren't prepared to listen to their customers.

I dont know whats their cut with PMU (French Tote) commingling but the Win Pools are averaging R400 000 larger when they commingle even reaching one bar. During the French Winter more often than not they are commingling on a Friday night. They are commingling tonight from Race 2 to Race 8. For them its just to put on a meeting so they can generate some sort of turnover plus the normal punter is not worried about the merit ratings of a race, they just want to place a bet.
