It's been bit of a bloodbath the last 10 days or so - and I can't see much changing today
R1: Guessing game depending on how good those first timers are - and sale price does not automatically translate into success ....
R2: Oh My Darling - not a lot came out of her last run before a break - but Safe Harbour (obviously improved a lot since then) did run a good 4th in her next run in the Thekwini Stakes - OMD according to the stable fit and well, so on a difficult card appears one of the better bets imo - dangers I think Sylvan on Fire set to improve and Half a Bar is knocking on the door - not a lot between the others imo
R3: Social Order impressive in his maiden win - but so was Boiling Point against a weaker field - those would be my top two - Gain Ground has at least proved her rating more or less - so if the handicapper got these maiden winners wrong (unlikely in my view), she could pick up the pieces
R4: No choice but to go with the class - Deo Juvente doing well at home according to the stable and the fact the Superman is here to ride, means he has to be one of the main contenders; French Navy needed his last run and in the Met ran close enough to his rating to be the one to beat here; Brazuca and Samurai Blade both have something to find on the top 2 at these weights, but will probably fight out 3rd
R5: Glorified fillies handicap - my first three in no particular order would be Belle Rose, Street Gaze and Trellis - but the more experienced filles like Wind Chill and Costa de Sol are certainly not out of it
R6: Glorified colts and geldings handicap - imo much more difficult than the fillies equivalent; Pagoda has an obvious chance; but a look at the collateral form points me to 2 roughies, Stunned (good last run behind Fangia on which he holds Arlington and there does not seem that much between Pagoda and Arlington at the weights taking their form behind Unagi into account) and Lee's Pick - holds Cheat the Cheaters who in turn holds Hieronymous who in turn holds Pagoda  Last Outlaw also gets another chance, but imo he might be better over shorter
R7: Bull Valley seems to have a lot going for him, but if he fluffs his lines, there are many others capable of picking up the pieces; both 3 yr old fillies look well in, but both may prefer 1000, so I make the biggest dangers to BV, Dollar Dazzler who really looks ready to win again and the 'other' Azzie inmate Splendid Garden is very effective over this trip and not totally without a chance; not sure why Gavin is deserting African Ruler in favor of Champagne Haze as there does not seem to be a lot between the two and neither of them are chanceless either
R8: The JP is getting tougher as we go along, and this certainly could throw up another spanner in the works; main contenders imo are Joan Ranger and Old Em followed by Shaama, but the Ferreira runners at the bottom of the weights can easily feature if they were to find a sudden return to their best form
R9: I agree with many that Gavin will break his streak (if it is still in play) in this race; short price but really looks the only possible P6 banker (bar maybe Bull Valley) imo
Enjoy

This De Kock First Timer is something special.......Put it in the books.
By entering only 2 horses for the Dubai World Cup, i think he will be challenging in SA this season.
Another horse for the books is Nother Russia. Pen it down for the VDJ 2017 :woohoo:
