I prefer to own horses on my own..I have a few in partnership and except for Brian Wiid and Paul Peter I have never even heard from the other trainers except where you own the hordes 100%...better on your own because trainer at least informs you they running..just own fewer and must have the balls to let them go if not placed within first 3 runs..very few trainers have told me to have a bet on my own horse except for Tony Peter which was very much appreciated!

I have the viewpoint that a lot of trainers have only themselves to blame. At sales time the talk is of "coming quick". This invariably changes once the horse has been paid for and has been in training for 6 months. Then "this is still growing", "this looks like he needs time", "this will be a classic horse", "this will be a late 3 year old", etc etc starts being bandied around. There is often little to no communication besides a line or two with the monthly account.
It is my opinion that many trainers will not tell you upfront that your pride and joy is useless and hide it away for as long as possible. The longer it stays hidden, the more monthly donations are received. When the patience wears thin and the long awaited debut takes place, the reality is there for all to see. I have heard this sad tale from at least 20 individualS in very similar versions of the story.

What chance do any of us have if they are defaulting and registering the same person as an owner on same day
