I think as normal all the facilities were full, the deck certainly was.

We were discussing this in general as a few of us are going to July but non wants to go as members of the public in the stands where u battle for a bet and a drink.

Gill from GC told us they were already fully booked

Its certainly not cheap to get something decent but the July still has the appeal.

So getting back to the empty tracks with todays technology, i am sure its better to sit on the couch than stand on the track unless you have somewhere comfortable to enjoy the racing.

Sad to see Dave but I think that you are spot on. Champions Day has no real tradition and the inner city slum scares off most. Little to no marketing of this event to non racing people, I saw nothing. Itsaflop going full steam ahead with no lessons being learned. Oh Newmarket why were you given away...................

I remember going to the Nursery meeting in 1987(run at about the same time of year then) - was the first time I was legally allowed on a racetrack .. We parked about 6 blocks from the course - the inner track was parked to the hilt - the place was full including the "non-white area" - what a change to what we have now - It's akin to Wembley having 5000 people in attendance for the FA Cup final ... And no I was not there yesterday - I watched from home as it suites me to do so nowadays but still I get a lump in my throat seeing the course so empty when the card is so impressive -
