Muhtiman not only does Bonny Prince have a great pedigree.

I was lucky enough to see him win his Maiden at Turfontein. One of the best looking horses I have seen for a while typical Highlands type of horse but wow a looker of note.

Could not believe they paid R250k or so as a buy back .

Highlands who was taken over by Ridgemont will stand Rafeef with the Sheik still retaining majority shares.

....no matter what that Whisky baron paid for Highlands he is going to reap some long term investment like good aging scotch.....Mr Beck loaded the dam population with some beauts and they will keep the farm producing some of the finest specimen for many years to come.....regardless of which stallions they stand.... ;)

My only wish would be is that breeders went shopping overseas for fillies to race in SA, we have too many stallions as it is. All of our best race mares end up being exported to be covered by overseas stallions, right or wrong I don't think that helps much long term if your just looking to breed another stallion.

About four years back Jooste bought some overseas bred broodmares and bred them to American Sires and then brought them to South Africa thereafter. The one that comes to mind is Estimation whose dam is Ebaraya but Estimation was sold although being a filly and a future broodmare prospect...

Estimation grandam is the dam of Estimate, the Ascot Gold Cup winner of the Queen.

.....some of the better buys is when a local breeder brings in a mare in foal and a foal at foot....this increases the odds to get a better genetic spread....not only have to be a filly to race here.... ;)

We racing newbies are very gullible and will believe anything a jockey says. This is what Striker had to say to about the 2 horses that he was riding. '' I ride Lady of the House who is well held on numerous runs and has her work cut out to place". The other horse " I ride Captain Splendid who is well held and i would be pleased if he found a place". Both of the above horses won their respective races. Needless to say as a newbie i scratched both his horses from my selections. All i want to know is , was his comments fair to the punter. I think it was completely misleading - last time for me to ever read his column again.

you are not going to get many responses re your post as the blokes on here hero worship him and that other rider from Durban. You say that you are new to the game so best is to pick what you like, dont rely on newspaper columns or when you hear people say "i heard a whisper" ffs if it was a whisper then nobody would hear it or when people tell you that "this cant get beaten etc etc" Follow a stable or two for small stakes and also one or two jockeys. If you believe that you are going to make tons of money in a short space of time then go and make a record or go to Hollywood and hope to be spotted. Whatever you do dont let horse racing become an addiction. Spend what you can afford to lose. Enjoy yourself and dont make it and make or break affair. If i had my time over i would never have had a bet in the first place. Fortunately i know when to draw a line and can go weeks without having a bet (unless Ziets horses are running at Flamingo)

Shadfighter , CNC as usual has given u the worst advice ever , we here to win money , so fire and if it don't win reload and fire again , better to have gone down blazing than with a loaded gun :woohoo: as for PS he always gives his honest opinion

....rather strange that Azzie has not hyped up this one.....he has kept him away from the bigger 3 year old races but now stepped into a 90MR which won with ease...imo this horse can be a contender for some black type....
