Informative stuff lately.

Broadway Trip is improving rapidly and is a classic contender - Graham Beck winner at this stage(still waiting for noble secret) - what's really impressive is the 3kg to gave to Flying Free, who was placed at Group 2 level, and beat him. they were in turn 3 lengths? or so ahead of Hakeem and the rest.

Silver Thursday back into the equation. I suppose she needed her first run a lot and is showing now what she showed on debut and behind Folk Dance.

Over in the Cape, Magical Wonderland should win the Choice Carriers.

Also keep an eye on Tap 'O Noth and Cot Campbell who look to be right up there as the best 3yo Cape colts - that race is proving to be strong. Steel Rose ran fourth in that and subsequently doddled in and Our Mate Art came out to win the Matchem.

Tomorrow we will know more about Surcharge, Sir David Baird and the rest there and where they stand.

My opinion Eyes Wide Open - Is the Best 3 Year Old Colt . Tap 'O Noth and Cot Campbell wont go with him.

Also Wednesday we see the return of LAST WINTER

Fair enough Warren, that's what I wanted this thread to be about - different opinions will help us all to find the future 3yo feature race winners.

I'll have to see more of him to make a call on that. I also think Do It Again will give them something to think about too.

Also excited to see Last Winter.

MOM - I think we need to add LIKE A PANTHER - 3 Year Old Rated 89 over 2000 m this time of the year . Although small field still had to win and impressive nice turn of foot off a slow pace.

The Selangor takes centre stage on Saturday.

My 3 horses in my notebook are Undercover Agent, Broadway Trip and Do It Again.

I'll start with Do It Again - I rate him highly and while he beat nothing LTO, the manner of his last win suggested he is very good. He'll definitely prefer the long run-in and more ground. IMO, we won't see the best of him on Saturday - he'll be ridden off the pace and we know the Winter Course usually favours strong frontrunners. BUT he does have an amazing turn of foot - watch his last win and it is something out of the top draw IMO - doubt he'll be fully wound up but don't put too much stock on Saturday's run. BIG Cape Guineas and Derby runner.

Undercover Agent is a horse that seems to like being ridden handy and that means the winter course will suit him. He showed LTO he's not far at all from Tap 'O Noth who's probably the leading Guineas candidate. the extra 200m will suit him and I can see him going very close here.

Broadway Trip also has an amazing turn of foot which will help him here. First time left handed will be a worry but he is classy. There is doubt over the Flying Free form who ran below par in the Graham Beck but in BT's defence, FF had a wide draw there and BT did carry 3kgs more. This race will show if he's good enough.

Couple of good sorts also take their place in the RTR. Wonderwall, Bold Respect, Sir Frenchie and Pack Leader look the principles. I'll put up a better preview on race day.

Had planned to update after the Cape Town features but forgot. Anyway for the MDK horses

Mujaafy - has been the most impressive for me and he'll be going into the features now. Top sort IMO and he's going straight to the highest level. He seems to glide to his victories. Out and out sprinter though and I hope they don't push him further than 6 furlong.

Shufoog - another star witness and she seems very good herself. Looks feature material but will need to see a bit more. Definite Sprinter

Dhabyaan - Nice debut win. Will need to see more. Likely to get more ground.

Alshibaa - Heads for the Dingaans. Has been impressive and needs to win the Dingaans(which will be a weaker contest now as BT isn't there) to show he's amongst the top 3yo's.

Naafer - Very impressive win and he's way better than the run behind Sand & Sea. He and Mujaafy looks like MDK's best sprinting colts behind Mustaaqeem of course.

Mawsoof - Looks a nice type but should ultimately be behind Naafer & Mujaafy in the pecking order.

Pietro Mascagni - I liked his debut win. Under lights and he really had to dig deep to win over a trip far too short. I think he'll be good.

Sir David Baird - heads for the KZN Guineas trial and really should be winning that.

that's all I can remember but I may have forgot one or two. Must be the most exciting crop of 3yo's for MDK for a long time.

Undercover Agent we can rule out in terms of his next race. Not a guineas winner.

Broadway Trip tried his hardest but I think that's his best run. Would have liked to see him come from further back as he is not suited to being handy IMO.

very very pleased with do it again. A horse I highlighted here after his cracking win LTO. Again turned for home last and had trouble in running when he tried to pass a tiring eyes wide open but still ran on strongly. Cannot wait to see him on the long run in and he'll put a huge showing in the guineas.

Rest of the field simply not good enough. Eyes wide open is not another gold standard on what's he shown that far.

That kzn form is horrible at the moment. Pirates did mention that the KZN 2yo form rarely works out and its usually the case.

Eyes wide open, ancestry, captain and master, monks hood all flattering to deceive
