I have to agree with Easy.
Horse racing you are never going to make money at the percentages and tax.
After July Day I have hardly had a bet on the horses and focused purely on sport. I have had one of my better runs. You do get your occasional bad call in sport but form is easier to work out. IMO you should only bet on the horses for fun not to make money.

I thank you all for your input
I will allocate some money towards betting horses for fun and for fun only. I'm a big Football fan so will spend time working something out on Sports betting. Again big thanks to all of you I needed to hear that.

Some great advise here, I gave it all up about 2 years ago completely restricting myself to the big race meetings where I'll have a 500.00 kitty and whatever transpires thereafter so be it. It's worked out great for me, I have a lot less stress these days, much more time to do things I actually enjoy and I have more patience. I do know of a few people who do this for a living, but only one who actually makes a descent profit, all the others went bang some time ago and to this day are still trying to recover their losses from the day before.
I can assure you this... After a month of no punting, it won't interest you whatsoever, you'll start feeling sorry for those who do punt everyday and after a little longer you actually won't care.
There is one way to make a profit with punting, but it's from it. Unfortunately the whole system is hard coded mathematics, if the norm was winning then bookmakers would not exist, neither would horse racing then.
Hope this helps.

The fact that bookmakers have ludicrous limits on horse racing but will lay any amount on sport belies the belief that sport is any easier than horses, if at all...
Give everything but up!

not entirely true and limits on horses are because of many factors. mostly because of "beating price" and clever money.
I won't even mention live runners vs no runners
not the same in man united v Man City

Truth be told, anyone could turn a profit wagering on horses.
In reality less than 2% of us ever will. This is due to our endemic human nature or dna.
The first and most important principle to turning a profit on the track is to understand that backing winners, very rarely translates to profit. - This extends to an understanding of odds and probability.
It is however in our nature to equate our very existence, the favor or disfavor of the gods, or universe to the frequency of how often our selection wins -regardless of the odds -- 2/10, 4/10 we will take them all.
Unless the ROI is higher than the successful strike rate of your system/methodology/approach you will lose.
Even a moderate handicapper who picks only 2 winners from every 10 selections, will turn a profit if he only accepts 5/1 or higher return on his wagers.
Unfortunately only 2% of horse players have that kind of emotional make-up and discipline.
Every time you wager on a 1/1 horse you are rating yourself capable of a 60% strike rate. That is impossible in reality.

@Adam - Quantum Mechanics at it's very core and your analysis is precise
My horse racing theory as documented...
Act of observation = No more probability and no more probability = Profit
It's observable and it works!!!

In yesterdays offering my analysis presented me with five candidates....only two were at odds sufficiently able to match my dismal strike rate. These were chrisofel and the queensbury square selection. If i was able to follow my own advice just the one winner from the two woukd have been adequate. But even sith all this information there is an innate driving desire to pick the winner of every single race regardless of odds.
Its that desire that makes us our own worst enemies. Understand your limitations, manifested in your historical ability (strike rate) and accept odds onky in accord with your proven ability.
Handicap yourselc first.....if a horse cannit crack a maiden in 10 runs its improbable to expect it to win on its 11th attempt. Likewise if you traditionally have an x percent strike rate over many years if refinement...that is your ability and it wont easily change signifucantly.....play to your strength or weakness as it may be.
