NB!! Please note that following heavy morning rain, and the forecast of further persistent rain, a track inspection was carried out including two horses galloping, it was a unanimous decision that the track was inconsistent and unsafe to race. Therefore today's race meeting at the Vaal dated 5 October 2017 has been abandoned.

once you set a precedent , you cant go back....whilst I am not near the vaal to say its justified or not, what I will say in the past racing would be going on, even if you couldn't see where your car was parked in the carpark.
I remember days at greyville, where comments like "best drainage in the world",etc etc...and they would race unabated.
there was once a pa I was running in and it was pelting down, couldn't even see the false rail from the stands...and me hoping like crazy they call off the race, being the last leg...I wont say whether I caught it or not but they did race....felix Coetzee won by 5 lengths on a dennis bosch horse....you be the judge if I caught it or not.
its crazy these days that even with dew, we could possibly be in trouble
