Last Winter ;)

Unbelievable that he’s never ridden there before, wonder why?

Harder to get spares in Cape Town?
The course should be similar to Clairwood back when it was operating

Just my opinion, it must be remembered that Delpech was stable jockey to De Kock up until not so long ago. Any raids to Cape Town (back in the day) would have been for the De Kock stable e.g. Igugu and others. All the Cape trainers already had their stable jockeys, Snaith/Fourie - Kannemeyer/Niesius, etc. It was only recently that Sean Cormack started riding for Snaith in Cape Town, and Kennemeyer used Delpech in KZN. Another import thing, there were no Feature races staged at Durbanville, where even if Delpech was riding for De Kock at he time, would not have ridden at Durbanville. I could be horribly wrong.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Crawford yard comments and PA:

Durbanville 18th October 2017

Clifton Beach – makes debut from terrible draw

Shades Of Pink – freshened up after two months off, has a chance if repeating penultimate try

Zanzibarian – tough beat last time, principal candidate here

One for One – handicap debut after scrambling home in Maiden

Union Jack – resumes after KZN campaign, ran second to Last Winter three months ago and he could prove hard to beat again

First Swallow – consistent form, main contender if overcoming tricky starting barrier

Depeche – making steady progress, extra will suit

PA: 1,4 x 2 x 1,4,5,7 x 3,5,6 x 1,4 x 1,5 x 3,8,9

Bass stable comments:

Pre-race comments Durbanville 18 October

Marié
Event: Race Race 1, Maiden Plate (F & M)
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: Will need the experience, not expecting much from her first start.

Pearl Jam
Event: Race Race 1, Maiden Plate (F & M)
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: Could be a little green around the turn first time out, but has come on nicely and could run a fair race.

Woodstock Fairy
Event: Race 2, FM 70 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 2000m
Pre-race comments: She is doing well and she should be competitive again at the weights.

Cradleofgratitude
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Competitive field but working well. Stable Jockey Elect.

Hogan’s Alley
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Just starting off not expecting much will need the experience badly.

Meraki
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Good run last time, chance if can overcome his bad draw

Pacific Chestnut
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Looking for further not expecting much this time.

So It Begins
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Will need the experience and this will also be a bit quick for him first time out.

Unrivalled
Event: Race 3, Maiden Plate
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Needs the experience of a few more runs, and this will be too short for him.

Twilight Trip
Event: Race: 6, Merit Rated 81 Divided Handicap
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Come on with his last run and doing very well but draws widest of all which will make it tough for him on this track.

Rocket Countdown
Event: Race: 6, Merit Rated 81 Divided Handicap
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: First run back after gelding and if he doesn’t need it too much could have a good chance here.

Ollivander
Event: Race 7, Merit Rated 98 Divided Handicap
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Prep run for the Algoa Cup. Takes on a very competitive field but could run a fair race fresh under a light weight.

Romantic Crusade
Event: Race 8, Maiden Plate (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Once again draws badly, but doing well so must be included.

Passion Peach
Event: Race 8, Maiden Plate (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Improved a bit at home, but should be looking for further. Hoping for a better run from her.

Travel In Style
Event: Race 8, Maiden Plate (F & M)
Distance: 1600m
Pre-race comments: Good maiden effort, will enjoy the extra and can make the frame this time.
