never forget one Saturday late 80's at that course - parked my car on the grass and a guy pulls up in one of those 50's cars that had wood trim that surfers liked to use in the 60's - The guy and his mate obviously wanted a bet in the first so they just rushed out the car and the passenger did not even bother to check his door was closed (it was open - about a foot gap ) They just ran off to take a bet_ First time I saw true compulsion - Probably thought nobody would steal it as it was in bad shape

Thanks for the replies. Firstly I have attended around 40 meetings at Turffontein this year so far and have parked ,whether in my car or another car,in roughly the same bay every time. The car park was no fuller on Saturday than it normally is, around 50 cars.In fact it may have been a little emptier due to the dusty roadworks outside. You get to know the regular parkers. It was not being used for the Function people.

Secondly, why I said it was a lame excuse that the camera was not working is that, are these cameras not linked to a monitor in the Control Room which should be manned at least whilst the meeting is on. If the camera goes on the blink the monitor would go blank thus alerting the controller there is a problem. I think there may be more to this story.

This is the Scary part as usual - Jobs for Pals once again - I am reliably informed that the Phumelela COO and Financial director, a Mr Andreas Heide, is/was a director of this company.

Typical South African Story . Not what you know its who you know. Once again Operators living in denial and accepting meritocracy for the sake of a few .

A race day should be fun for all , Its a Rush don't forget , I suppose this is what the RA and Phum consider this to be fun.

Sorry Tony J. worst feeling in the world. There is no excuse for this .
