Some early thoughts as I will be on the road tomorrow morning:
Race 1: Too many first timers to get involved, but is first leg of the bipot. Elusive Kat put up a decent debut, but stable jockey on Shadowing so they must both be included. One assumes that de Kock and Tarry would only bring juveniles that have some talent to the cape. All the big yards are represented, so I would go wide in this leg. I don’t know who is in the River Palace syndicate, but Marcus is riding for them and not the Mayfair horse. Is he still on retainer?
Race 2: This race has “upset” written all over it. The shortlist for bipot and PA are the consistent Dayonaut, True Words and Henry Tudor. Add Nauticus, the two Snaith runners, and Aviemore to larger perms.
Race 3:Miss Katalin won a good race last time, and is my selection. Respect for Captains Flame and Anime. Include the two Kotzen runners in the quartet. It’s unlikely that Merysagos will run so soon after her PE win.
Race 4: A competitive maiden- there is nothing between 1,2,3,4 on their last runs.Tally Ho looks good ew value at 7/1. There are also a couple of lightly raced sorts that could pop up.
Race 5: A competitive race but I will row in with the 3yos against the older horses. The well bred Power of Peace won easily and must surely be better than his MR 76 with natural improvement at only his 3rd start. He is my selection to beat the talented Talk of the Town which must give him a massive 6kg. Unbelievable Chad surprised last time, but is only up 2 points for that win and could be the best of the older horses. Go wide in quartets.
Race 6: A tricky handicap. Ramsden has a strong hand with Epona and Captain Gambler. Red Ginger just keeps improving and must be respected. Silver Willow is well in at the weights and has a big shout. Adorada at 14/1 is a roughie worth including.
Race 7: Just Sensual just beat Live Life in the Southern Cross and both will prefer the 1200m.Hoist the Mast ran above expectations last time and could again challenge. Jo’s Bond and Somerlied are both classy sprinters. Magical Wonderland reverts to sprinting, and although she is a bit short in the betting in this lineup, I make her the one to beat. Green Plains is useful but seems to be prepping for the sales race.
Race 8: A very competitive maiden with a host of well bred and improving 3yos. If Power of Peace runs well then that will bode well for Earl of Warwick. Hundreds put up a super debut, but was pulled up in his next race when strongly fancied after ducking away from a horse shifting out, and injuring himself in the process. We have not rushed him, he just needed physio, and all seems well again. He unfortunately gets another wide draw, but he has a very good turn of foot and this time has the benefit of the longer run in. He is a serious runner despite the draw, although there is no doubt that he will come on from this run and is not as match fit as some of the others.
Turnberry is improving but this field looks too strong at this stage and he has a bad draw to overcome.

Day 1
Race 3 - Captain's Flame 9/2
Above average on her day(finishing just under 4 lengths in the Majorca) and a Gr 3 winner. Thought she put up an excellent sprint behind Sommerlied. 1400 is probably her best trip. If she repeats that run behind Just Sensual over the c&d, she should give Miss Katalin a lot to think about.
Race 5 - Talk of the Town 7/2, Zeb 12/1
Thought it was a nice win from Talk of the Town on Guineas day and he went off at a very generous price in my opinion for a horse that was Guineas entered and highly thought of. He was taken on early that day but to his credit he knuckled down, fought them off and found extra and was going away at the post.
I think the extra furlong should suit him much better and with further improvement he can pull this off.
Race 6 - Epona 7/2, Red Ginger 13/2
Ah Epona, after her win in this last year, I had high hopes for her. Unfortunately she went to Durban and after one win there, completely lost her form. She's still been battling to regain it but has shown signs of improvement in her last start. That was a strong field and many of those run in the Paddock tomorrow. This is a much weaker field than what she's used to and surely she can bounce back over her favourite trip and course.
Red Ginger is in cracking form and should be right there if she stays. If she does, she'll go very close.
Race 7 - Live Life 6/1, Magical Wonderland 7/1, Angel's Trumpet 25/1
Live Life bounced back to form LTO and we know how good she is at her best. Loves the c&d and should be a massive threat with the inside draw.
Magical Wonderland returns to the trip IMO where she is best. She didn't stay in the Guineas - look back at the 300m or so. She is the horse to come out the pack to chase Snowdance and is looking like the clear runner up but fades tamely in the last 100m - clear sign of running on empty.
Now back to her sort of trip and with 54kg, I think she'll go close. Really has a short but very effective turn of foot. 3 from 3 over this trip.
Race 8 - Streetfighting Man 5/1
Was slow away last time and flew down the straight to nab second behind Doyles who looks a smart sort. Meraki came out to win from that bunch. If he gets away better this time round, he should go very close here.

Some thoughts for today on the p6 legs:
Race 3:
Miss Katalin (Jockey / trainer combo hot) won over much further last time with a flying finish. Too Phat To Fly whose last two runs were in graded races against the champ Snowdance has finished in front of Miss Katalin on past two occasions they have met, Captains Flame (virus in Durban yard currently) as well as Anime should be respected. P6 numbers are 1 / 2 / 5 / 6
Selections: 6 X 5 X 2 X 1
Race 4:
Tough looking race were some horses have bumped each other previously, P6 numbers are, 1 / 2 / 4 / 5 / 9 / 12 with slight preference for the 9 Cambridge Girl who is a Silvano filly out of a Western Winter mare and after two previous runs looks like the improvement is there.
Selections: 9 X 2 X 12 X 1
Race 5:
Talk of the Town has impeccable form and now that he has learnt to win should be to strong for this field. Although he has beaten nothing of note during the past two wins, the manner of those wins shows the jump up to 1600 as well as the weight penalty received for those wins should be of no consequence. P6 banker 3.
Selections: 3 X 10 X 2 X 11
Race 6:
Epona won this race last year but has underperformed since, in saying that she is unbeaten over this course and distance from two runs. Red Ginger goes for four in a row and on pedigree the distance should not be an issue. Oriental Oak is another who has been competing on the highest level around the country and must be respected. Silver Willow finished 3 lenghts behind Epona in this same race last year and is now 8kgs better off for that bearting with a trainer / jockey combo which is currently quite deadly. There are also some low weighted horses which are unbeaten over this course and distance and must be respected. P6 numbers are, 1 / 2 / 3 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12 / 13.
Selections: 11 X 1 X 2 X 3
Race 7:
Some good horses go to post and for me the four horses which I fancy to fight this out are Just Sensual who loves the Kenilworth course as well as has brilliant sprint form. Live Life showed a welcome return to form last time out and is another who loves the Kenilworth course and sprint distance. Desert Rhythm is also very classy and had an easy workout last time out, she looked a picture going to post that day and that run would have brought her on. Magical Wonderland is the one to beat after now reverting to the sprint and although seemingly out at the weights with Just Sensual her sprint record is impeccable as well as bumping the champ Snowdance in her last two she is the one for me. P6 numbers are, 1 / 3 / 11 / 12.
Selections: 12 X 1 X 11 X 3
Race 8:
Earl of Warwick has brilliant breeding and its last run was extremely encouraging, Marcus now takes the ride and if not for the draw would be a confident first pick. . Mind Blowing also has a poor draw and will be running on late along with Hundreds who had excuses last time out. Others to consider for the p6 are Streetfightingman, Manetheren, Hadarat (jockey 1 ride for the day) and Red Mars. P6 numbers are, 2 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 11 / 14 / 15
Selections: 11 X 2 X 6 X 5
