COSATU to protest the Sun Met horseracing at Kenilworth if Markus Jooste's horses are allowed to race
The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Western Cape is planning to protest the SUN Met horseracing at Kenilworth. The horse racing event to be held at Kenilworth will be protested by the workers if it includes horses of Markus Jooste. Markus Jooste is nothing but a looter, who collapsed Steinhoff taking billions of rands from poor people's pension funds. He did this while he and his girl friend are riding around in luxury sedans. He has also invested millions of rands in the horse racing industry and monopolised the racing and horse sale fraternity.

COSATU is concerned that ABSA allows him to further milk the assets that he squandered from Steinhoff and related companies.

Jooste should be arrested and charged with corruption for the fraudulent financial activities he has involved the company in.

The Stellenbosch mafia are now desperately trying to shore up the house of cards that is collapsing, and which is exposing the levels of corruption that have their roots in Stellenbosch.

We demand an undertaking be given by the organisers that no horses with links to Marcus Jooste will be allowed to participate in the race. Failing which, Cosatu will be protesting at the event for the return of the money, that Marcus Jooste looted from the company for his high life, which was paid for by workers retirement savings.

The extravagance indulgence by the tiny elites that continues to squander the national wealth for their own gratification will not be left unchallenged. It is becoming more clearly everyday that the elite in society have no ounce of morality; they continue to live the high life on the backs of working families.

So cosatu have also made a " press release" that we might have a concern or problem, with the MJ news story, will the operators eventually concede that this a major event in horse racing history or will "the band play on"?

I had asked earlier "might there be any repercussion if horses have to be scratched" etc

Hope all goes well, interesting to see if (we) or should i say "Cosatu" get a reaction.

the release says - "the race" i think they are unaware that winning either of the sales races would be more lucrative...and that he has no runners in the Met

It is worrying. Of course the protests would be of no value to anyone, but likely the crime spree on the pretext of a protest is what they are looking for. Just look at the H&M looting And trashing.

Cosatu have expanded their protest to include Greyville Friday night.

If number 7 in the 5th race is allowed to run they will be taking action.

Its quite funny when i went onto sahorseracing to see changes on met day and i see two jooste horses have change of colours but still keep mayfair on the list of owners. So instead of seeing the green and black colours we will see the partners colours. How pathetic.

I was also under the impression tha the Hammies boys bought out Mayfair's stake in Magical Wonderland?

Still listed as an owner on the card.

now with tears in my eyes - If Mayfair are not bringing the good name of Racing into disrepute then I don't know - the NHRA are showing bias - When serious Industrial action is proposed because of the actions of Mayfair(yes Mayfair has defaulted on a loan and has moved funds out of their creditors reach) the NHRA has a duty to act...Even if you are a MJ fan you cannot think that it is correct to allow maybe 50k people to be at risk at this event just to stroke a fallen hero's ego(benefactor)... if any people or horses are injured how will the NHRA defend the non-application of their own rule that they have used on many other occasions for lesser transgressions The very fact that some people might now decide not to attended the Met(If I was going I would cancel as I do realize that things of this nature can turn ugly in seconds and dying or getting injured at a sporting event does not appeal) should bring the rule into play - The real danger to man and beast should cement that - Take their rights to race away now for the sake of the sport and for those that have to carry on long after those colors are dead and buried - No matter what the NHRA think - MJ is not coming back ! Standing by him now might get some serious attention later on if and or when Government decides to look at how Racing has been run and/or manipulated
