Tony, you make valid points and yes they are not competitors, but do you believe that the current model has worked well for racing?

The corporate model had some merit at the time of founding and even now but in my opinion has a number of key drawbacks that are holding racing back at present.

The biggest one being that there is no accountability for a lack of expansion of local racing as long as the show goes on.

Many good things have been done but it should not be about how good the company is doing but rather how good racing is doing under this model.

.....one thing we have learned about the corporate model....is that it can be manipulated ....and then hijacked.... :S

Directors of both Gold Circle and Phum should put their companies interests first.

All I see at races is these fat cats drinking and eating on the company account. Look at the Met on Saturday where the entire Executive were down in Cape Town!!!

What about the free betting vouchers. I hope an audit is being done to ensure that these are not being stolen by the Executives!!!

Are they doing enough to promote the sport of horseracing.......I think not IMVHO

BTW the only reason that Gold Circle survives is due to the fact that they host the Durban July.

Take this race meeting away then the results will be poor!!!
