This has been happening for a longtime

Are the NHRA trying to outdo their UK colleagues, the BHA, in terms of ineptitude? I remember last year there was an incident at Yarmouth were Charlie McBride ran a 3 year old in a juvenile race & won at 50/1 odds. Trainer was subsequently fined, a slap on the wrists as it were, just over a thousand quid. But did the BHA learn? No. Recently,a fortnight or so back, Ivan Furtado inadvertently ran his 2 bay/brown horses in different races, in yet another classic mixup. This time it was at Southwell.

Trainer has to be accountable but the ultimate responsibility rests with the authority. With all the technology available, there is no excuse. Scan the horses as they're headed to the saddling boxes. It is not an overfastidious approach. And also, dear NHRA, do not sit on this info. Let your stakeholders know, esp the punters, instead of sweeping it under the carpet.

RADIANT CUT – bilateral Epistaxis (second episode) and collapse during racing. This horse is suspended for a period of 180 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority in terms of Rule 93.1. Trainer J A Janse van Vuuren advised. (JJ)

At approximately the 400m Jockey J Greyling felt something amiss with RADIANT CUT and attempted to ease this filly out the race. He was dislodged when RADIANT CUT became unbalanced, struck the inside running rail and thereafter collapsed.


From this report - Now I really don't care if the stipes or vets or trainers think maybe resting this horse can help- It has bled TWICE and collapsed DURING a race - The very thought that giving a horse like this 180 days off might cure it is crazy - Are the risks not exposed already?- Let the poor horse become a jumper and potentially save its life and that of jocks and other horses that have to race against it.

In the concluding stages FOREST EXPRESS (*L Hewitson) had to steady off the heels of SAMARRA (*D R Lerena) when shifting out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. Shortly thereafter FOREST EXPRESS had to steady when awkwardly placed between SAMARRA (*D R Lerena) and JUST MY STYLE (W Kennedy).

Take note of this and watch the replay(the hard-luck story of the day for me) - She is at this point still a runner tomorrow(R8) - She does not have the best draw but if she gets a clear run she will be involved
