3 Maidens and 5 Handicaps - looks progressively more difficult as the day goes on ... thoughts:
R1: Coastal Torrent gets a tongue-tie - may help him to improve to finish in front of Singfonico this time - however Singfonico had some problems last time and looks good value here to include in trifectas etc - draw may be against S and Crassus, who has finished only slightly more than 2 lengths behind Alfok on debut and probably needed his last run after being gelded - BP has the potential to start off with a bang if both CT and That's Life get run out of it ....
R2: Red Revolution needs to return to the form he showed behind Kremlin Judgement - stable has struck form, so a potential BP and PA banker imo; Brave Gitano another who needs to show that his last run was all wrong, but from a good draw could be the main danger; Rich Harvest showed good improvement in his 2nd start and looks nice value at current odds, while Belfry now tries blinkers so may also improve
R3: Not a lot between the top 4 and any of them could pop up; Sailor Girl may have improved enough with the cheek pieces to turn the form around with Regal Girl and Purdey, but odds are rather skinny imo
R4: Looks a weak lot; Discoveror all but won his last start against similar, so obvious chance to find the winners box in his 32nd attempt; Antonello improved in his 2nd start, but still got beat more than 8 lengths; Hokanui showed fair form in KZN, but tries further, so who knows; the 5yr old mare Pas de Chat has also had many chances, but gets a 3.5 kg pull at the weights and stays well, so can't be ignored; anything else winning would be quite a shock result ....
R5: High level handicap; Kitty's Destiny looks out at the weights, but has actually come down from a 95 rating to 84, so upset material imo; rest of the field all in with chances though
R6: Another closely contested handicap; Gone Baby Gone finding support in the market, so not to be ignored; obvious chances to Shenanigans, Malinga, and Rocketman, while Raydaveric could also find the trip to his liking
R7: Not too many to draw a line through - where's that pin ?
R8: Imo Mar del Sur could be better than these; however the market seems to suggest that the stable companion is more fancied - so who knows; Strawberry Pavlova obvious chance with Jet Start and The Smell of Rain
Enjoy
