Not many owners that will continue to pay approx R3000/month for a horse after its career, when it no longer has the opportunity to earn. I would quite happily offer this setup, if I was to receive R3k per horse.
And the show-jumping/hacking/riding community in South Africa is so saturated with Thoroughbreds, that the demand is dwindling rapidly. As it is the happy hacker community is alarmingly dumping horses due to the increasing costs and in these tough economic times they just cannot afford their riding horses. Thus the demand decreases further, yet the supply remains.....
