Scottsville Wednesday Tips and Race Previews by Andrew Harrison
Race 1
1 MINALOUSHE VENTURE 3 DANTE’S ROCK 6 THE REFORMATION 4 THEY SAY
Preview: Difficult race. MINALOUSHE VENTURE (1) has a difficult draw to over come but has been consistent and should feature prominently. DANTE’S ROCK (3) has a much better draw and has done well over this trip. He has improved with cheek-pieces. THE REFORMATION (6) has shown improved form of late and was not too far back in second last time out. THEY SAY (4) has had one outing since a lengthy break and can improve. (Andrew Harrison: 1-3-6-4).
Race 2
3 ISCA 5 CAPTAIN’S GIRL 4 VISION TO KILL 1 MUSCATT
Preview: ISCA (3) has consistently good form over course and distance and can go one better here. CAPTAIN’S GIRL (5) looks held on her run behind stable companion Effortless Reward but that was in soft ground and she can do better with the going on top. VISION TO KILL (4) is a smart filly but comes off a break and may need this outing. MUSCATT (1) ran way below best in soft ground and can do better this time around. (Andrew Harrison: 3-5-4-1).
Race 3
1 VICTORIOUS DIVA 2 BREAKING BARRIERS 3 SILVER RAISIN 7 BLUE WONDER
Preview: VICTORIOUS DIVA (1) has only once finished out of the money. She goes well this trip and should be right there. BREAKING BARRIERS (2) was touched off last run on the poly but has done well on the turf. There is not likely to be much between these two. SILVER RAISIN (3) didn’t feature in the soft going last run after showing some improvement. She may be worth another chance. BLUE WONTER (7) made a fair debut and should much prefer this trip. (Andrew Harrison: 1-2-3-7).
Race 4
3 SUNSET EYES 6 RYKER 1 VARALLO 5 TRIBAL FUSION
Preview: SUNSET EYES (3) only received a 2-point penalty for his latest win. He has improved with a tongue-tie and can go in again. RYKER (6) disappointed last run. His previous form was useful and Garth Puller’s yard is in mustard form at present. VARALLO (1) is a smart gelding but has been rested and shoulders top weight. At best that may not be enough to stop him. TRIBAL FUSON (5) returns from a lengthy break but had smart Cape form. He is one to watch in the betting. (Andrew Harrison: 3-6-1-5).
Race 5
1 FIORELLA 10 SUPER SPARKLE 5 PEARL GLOW 6 INGA
Preview: FIORELLA (1) is a smart filly and won well when beating stable companion Dawn Calling. She has a fair weight here but looks capable. SUPER SPARKLE (10) made a smart local debut. She takes on much stronger here but has a light weight and can threaten again. PEARL GLOW (5) shows some promise and has only once been out of the money. She goes well this trip. INGA (6) has had one outing and a barrier trial since a break. She seldom runs a bad race. (Andrew Harrison: 1-10-5-6).
Race 6
1 WAYWOOD 4 GIRL ON GOLD 1 REACTIVE 5 DELIRIOUS NOMAD
Preview: WAYWOOD (2) was arguably unlucky last run and although maybe not winning he could have finished a lot closer. That form has since been franked. GIRL IN GOLD (4) takes on males but has been consistent and will prefer this trip. REACTIVE (1) is struggling for his next win but has shown some improvement in blinkers and can place. DELIRIOUS NOMAD (5) is never far back although he best recent form has been on the poly. (Andrew Harrison: 2-4-1-5).
Race 7
3 VERDIER 4 PURE LOGIC 5 AMOR ARDIENTE 1 MARK MY CARD
Preview: VERDIER (3) has shown up well in two starts for his new stable. He was second best last outing but can do better here. PURE LOGIC (4) was a game if a touch lucky to win his last start but second-placed Coys has since franked that form. AMOR ARDIENTE (5) can be difficult but has been running consistently well and now tries cheek pieces. He is a must inclusion in all bets. MARK MY CARD (1) is always game and should be thereabouts again. (Andrew Harrison: 3-4-5-1).
Race 8
4 CAPRIVI 1 BALLYMAINE 10 SCRIPTWRITER 3 THE MONEY MAN
Preview: CAPRIVI (4) was not far back to stronger last time out. He is distance suited and should go well here. BALLYMAINE (1) has come good with the sting out of the ground. He drops in class here and can go in again. SCRIPTWRITER (10) has been consistent and can improve on his last showing. THE MONEY MAN (3) goes well over course and distance. He was a close-up third last run and can go close in spite of a tricky draw. (Andrew Harrison: 4-1-10-3).

The Reformation 9/1 good outing last time, trained by the only Sharks fan left in Durban. Come on Craig give him a pep talk and lead him into the winners enclosure. You can do it.

How did 13 in the 1st race get a stalls certificate?
Thats why horses should be passed at barrier trials.
Wasting the operators time!!

Would have to agree. I feel that horses are sometimes given too many chances to load. If they shy away a couple of times scratch them.

I actually gave The Money Man a big shout in the last. Enjoys the conditions and is back in form. Hope this one can do it for Craig.
