Historical times would only be worth their salt if you could trust the track conditions reported

Yes the previous contest it was hard for them cause they faced stiff conditions so in my opinion louis the king win still the best for me

My take of yesterday Turffontein
Comparing yesterday's times with each other then monks hood basicly deadheated with simply royal ....and both are more than 6 lenghs in front of fillies guineas winner ( which was even more a false run race)
Acacia!!
Simply royal won a true run race . Form will hold up of the Acacia!!!!
The whole field finished stretched out and overrated horses gets found out in true run races and this race form will be an brilliant guide for future races.
What they ran to :
Simply royal 98
Redberry lane 93
Sylvan on fire 88
Sabinas Dynasty 86 linehorse
Kilauea 92
Linehorse i make Sabina's Dynasty that ran to her 86 rating .
Gauteng Guineas
Monks hood have an excellent turn of food and quickened very well from a not too honest pace and caught most others flatfooted when it turned into a sprint last 600m . Expect a lot of formreverses in the classic. The 2nd place horse and the ninth place horse finished 4 lenghs apart but the ratings of these 8 horses differ from a 104 to as low as a 80 rating ....
In a true run race monks hood will still beat them but dont think it will be this margin .
In a true run classic 1800 i wont be surprise if anton marcus sends royal crusade straight to the front and make his own honest pace.
I dont think monks hood ran much better than his 104 current rating and of everything behind him i will draw a line through on true merit ratings on yesterdays run.
Fillies guineas
First 6 horses finished within 3 lenghs apart and the 3rd place (82 merit rating) and 4th (97 merit rating) finished 1 lengh apart. This race form wont hold up and clearly on time also a false run race.
Wont be surprise if top 3 finishers run unplace in upcoming 1800 2nd leg. Wont consider this race as a guide in future.

Although his win was impressive I would caution that they went very hard early on, the pace melted down and he ran on from a suicidal pace.
The Peter yard had a plan but imo, their stable was flat yesterday.
Monks hood should be watched with interest of course but I feel like the distance by which he won is more a product of how the race was ruin rather than actual raw ability.
Let's wait for seerite to come out again..... maybe in the classic.

I also dont think that sean tarry will retain his championship cause he does not have a true contender for the classics this season and woodruff is another so decock may dominate the last 2 legs

I'm the fillies guineas my feeling is that half the field didn't stay the 1600 and the other half need more ground. I think silver Thursday will go close in the classic and oaks

Monks Hood, the brilliant winner of the Gr2 Gauteng Guineas ten days ago and winner too of the Gr2 Dingaans, is in the process of being sold to a Hong Kong owner.
Monks Hood – should be suited to Hong Kong tracks
A lot of the necessary veterinary tests and red tape procedures have already been finalised for the Wilgerbosdrift Stud-owned Querari gelding, but the sale has not yet been finalised by the pending new owner.
Trainer Alistair Gordon said, “It is a hard one to lose a horse of this calibre, but every horse has its price.”
Hong Kong is one of the few countries in the world where average stakes returns per horse is more than the average cost of ownership, so Monks Hood will have a good chance of recouping his cost price.
The process for the next overseas shipment from the Kenilworth quarantine station is expected to start in June, depending on the numbers. If it does go ahead, Monks Hood can only expect to reach Hong Kong by the end of November after the arduous journey via Mauritius and Europe.
