I wouldn't ordinarily back Sark....but today...in this field.....looks a sitter. Also Kampala Kampari beat Perovskia.....and we saw what that one did yesterday.....so this looks a good double to open the meeting. I got 5/2.....so hoping for some winnings to play the pick6 and jpt

Pen 22, no wind yet but a tailwind is forecast for later.
Race 1: Sark has been an expensive flop but has his best chance to get a maiden win today. Belinda Haytread will get the best out of him, although he is probably best over a bit further. Even money does not look too exciting. The first timer The Peacemaker does not have to be a star to make a winning debut. Spy ran a fair race on debut and with normal improvement should be in the shakeup. Country Rock has been slow away both starts, but should run into the quartet.
Race 2: Only four go to post, so the pace, or lack of it could be a problem, although Red Peril should go handy. He returns from a break but if they let him skip clear he could hold on. Kampala Campari still has room for improvement and Perovskia franked the form in no uncertain manner on Friday, so must be preferred.
Race 3: There is not much between the top three in the betting. Photocopy has been runner up last three starts and should go close. The Brett Crawford coupling is strong, and I marginally prefer Mind Blowing to Earl of Warwick. Parisian Gold should round off the quartet.
Race 4: Bon Bon is fit and well and we are expecting another good run from a nice draw. It’s a very open race, so I can’t get excited by 5/2. Indian Song and Trip to Ibiza look the main dangers.
Race 5: Milton comes back from a break and I think is too high in the merit ratings after his gutsy win in the gr2. 1400 m may be on the sharp side for him now, but he is all heart and if they let him dictate he could defy the weight. Star Chestnut also returns from a break, but if fit should be in the shakeup. New Caledonia and Spring Man are racing fit and must be respected. Icon King has been off form for a while but is very well in at the weights if anywhere near his best. Catkin loves the 1400m- on his penultimate run he is 5.5kg better off with New Caledonia for just 2.2 L, and he is my selection to win.
Race 6: Nous Viola was impressive in winning her first start beating a very smart sort. She is the one to beat, but these juvenile races can often throw up results. Her stable companion , Lesedi la Rona also won on debut and could be anything. Twin Falls is fit and well and we are expecting a good run. She is 2 kg better off with Carioca for a length and a quarter beating last time and so should turn the tables on that one. Richard Fourie has elected to ride Coral Bay- she ran a fair race on debut and has come on from that, and she receives weight all round as a maiden.
Race 7: Twist Of Fate is a smart sort, but must give weight all round. Arabian Air was an impressive maiden winner and looks the stable elect. Mr Crumford was also impressive in his maiden win and he looks the value ew bet at 6/1. Crown Guardian just got up to win his maiden but has come on from that run and should be in the mix. Frank Lloyd Wright is 2kg better off for 3L beating, and should again be held by Mr Crumford.
Race 8: I can’t have Fire Walker at odds on in what looks a tricky race- it’s a weak field with some inconsistent horses, and he is the most consistent., but I will put the field in the pick 6.

Bass Pre-race comments Kenilworth 6 May
Sark
Event: Race 1, Work Rider’s Maiden Plate
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: This distance is well short of his best, but we’re expecting him to have a big chance in a field like this with Belinda up.
Indian Song
Event: Race 4, FM 68 Handicap (F & M)
Distance: 1400m
Pre-race comments: Top weighted and drawn widest in this handicap, so it won’t be an easy task, but she is fit and well and if given a chance she will be running on strongly for an each way chance.
Lesedi La Rona
Event: Race 6, Perfect Promise Sprint (Listed)
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: This 1200 is a bit sharp for her but she has a touch of class about her and a good turn of foot, so we’re expecting her to be fighting it out.
Nous Voila
Event: Race 6, Perfect Promise Sprint (Listed)
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: We think very highly of this filly and although she is taking on stronger here, we are hoping she can stamp her authority.
Fabian
Event: Race 7, Somerset 1200 (Listed)
Distance: 1200m
Pre-race comments: It looks a very competitive and open field. His work has been excellent going into this race and he should be a big runner.
