I agree - a rating is a rating - imo you cant have a filly running to one rating if she takes on males, but another if she takes on her own sex - any way I'm open to argument B)

Fillies and mares only get sex allowance in WFA races or condition races. They do not get sex allowances in handicap races. An example is yesterday is Strong N Brave and Oakdene. I don't know if this is what you implying. Thanks.

Fillies get an allowance everywhere except in handicaps, because it's "built in". By built in we mean that the weight you carry affects your rating, so it's in the rating. So it doesn't matter if you add on or subtract weights, the rating is derived from whatever weight is real. (Appies allowance is always up for debate).

The reasoning from the Premiers to adjust for the sex allowance, makes no sense because it's then a double adjustment.

For a start, the weights of the race are just set in a mumbo-jumbo way which I think is a disgrace for Gr1 for R4 Million...it could make the result in a tight finish meaningless. It proves that decision makers have no plan for the sport.

But to take off 5 points, after you already took off 5 points of the carded weight...well, explain that to a judge.

The point of ratings is to assign a number that keeps track of weight, distance, wfa, sex allowance and current form so that the next time a horse runs you can give a weight that brings horses together. To make it easier to figure out what the weight differences should be next time these horses meet, or more importantly if the meet horses they have never met.

Normally I would be defending the handicappers, but the numbers don't make sense and they have decided to force a fit the thing. I look forward to these horses in their next handicap carrying the extra 4kgs. Just as well it's not the original 5kgs.

To be honest I still feel that a 9 point hike for a 3 year old on the day taking into account all the factors at play is debatable and I will forward a mail to Roger on Monday asking for a review.

Oh Susanna went up 10 in the Paddock St. She went up another 7 again. Being a 3yo when you beat older horses in Gr 1's pulls the teeth of arguments in this debate.

PP beat Naafer (now 110) by 2.7 L. What weight would you have PP give Naafer should they meet in a hcp in two weeks to have them start at the same odds? Surely not the 1kg you have to give now?

But I sympathize. If your next run is not a handicap, you should try and extract a promise that they will review this rating if the horse doesn't repeat it. Most often a high handicap rating doesn't affect a graded calibre horse, especially sprinters.

I disagree with you Mac on what basis do you say that? Why put a horse up immediately after one race 9 points?? Very fast up very slow down, he didn't win the race he ran second..again.

Pirates Im aware of that..you show a lot of interest in this horse for some odd reason....he ran 1.75 lengths second to a horse with a rating of 111, he was stuck up in one go to a 112..the Bold Respect had already earned over R1.5m whilst PP was around R500k ..explain that to me then?
