I’m sure Hawkins is only hired on Big days these days? Left last year?

....on Graeme Hawkins....when in Phum country was challenged by Jooste himself.....on what he was doing for the corporate for his earnings....and at the time on a minuscule remuneration package compared to what his eventual replacement is taking out in the past 3 years.....not even inflation related.... but imo Hawkins is 10 times the man than his Phum counterpart or eventual replacement.... with only a 10th of Hawkins' similar skillz..... :whistle:

Just got round to reading the article - great job as always.

Adjectives to describe the goings-on fail me - disgusting, abhorrent - in Afrikaans I would be able to think about many more.

I read that suggestions are being made about not entering horses into races; in theory at first thought this seems a good start - after all as stated in the article, 70% of horses never win a race, so not racing them in the first place would not hurt the pocket too much anyway; and I'm sure the 70% will increase a lot if one adds the many '1 win out of 20 runs' horses. So the field sizes will be reduced drastically - and pools will shrink - and therefor this action should hurt P's income.

However - there is a fly in the ointment I think - (even if the 'owners' can stand together) P will just feed the punters' frenzy by flighting many more chariot races and races from Aus and the UK and Singapore and Ngong etc etc on TT - and then as a 'cost cutting' exercise they may just close the local tracks :ohmy:

Not sure which way Gold Circle will go, but it would seem that P is holding all the Aces and racing in South Africa is desperately in need of a 'forward thinker' - is there anyone out there to take on this challenge and make the sacrifices needed :blink:

Frodo yes there is, there are. Many have put forward very good proposals, guidelines etc in the past and recently. It is time for the operators, who are responsible and accountable for racing, to sit up and listen, team up with others in the industry and fix it the way it needs to be fixed, not lopsided.

....can't see any of the "I'm alright Jack brigade".....stepping forward....nor them allowing any outsider's preach to them either.....stale mate....I'm afraid.... :ohmy:
