CUSTOMER VALUE CREATION Phumelela is exploring new methods of improving customer experience and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Company intends to improve satisfaction levels through a focus on providing positive outcomes through a highly driven customer-centric performance culture and complete product solutions to meet customers needs. Opportunities exist to improve customer interaction through technology. A national retail manager has been appointed with experience outside of our industry to apply fresh thinking to our technology, store design, and customer experience initiatives. We have embarked upon a strategy to use technology more effectively and as our first initiative, free Wi-Fi is now being offered in all our stores. We are continually developing new betting applications, especially for smartphones.

.....but look at their latest proposed target market.....they are tapping in to the masses that you will not hardly find here...look at Lotto queues in my neck of the woods.....the mink and manure set recon you are desperate to do any tom in one....I am there with the cleaners, petrol attendants, delivery drivers, gardeners, trash collectors, domestic child minders, dog walkers, security guards and so on....the very same people you find in betting establishments that are promoted by PHUM these days.....hey you gotta be in it to win it..... :P

Problem is that for DECADES the RA and Phumelela have dismissed the notion that Racing needs the YOUTH to survive - Instead of focusing ALL Marketing spend on the 20-30 year olds they have continued to Ego-stroke old tired males(and a few females) who actually don't want change but would rather live in Colonial times - Where will you find the Young New Blood now? They have been dismissed and only are required as RA Fluff for window dressing in RA Photos - They deserve what they get BUT WE THE RACING FANS DON"T deserve our Sport and hobby dying because of this total lack of care and promotion by super well paid individuals that serve themselves before the Industry.

So there is a proposed split on the table......what a joke, pay nothing for the infrastructure, strip it then offer it back and take the viable IP.... :P sounds about right

It is hilarious that people thought that by listing racing it would improve it, how naïve when listed company's pursue profit and horseracing profits were designed to be re-invested to continuously improve racing. Now there is anticipation and worry...... well its too late, all racing needed was to clean up its act and manage the business properly, JSE listing was never necessary it was just a scape goat. It was also an ideal opportunity for a select few to make large sums of money and the media message was driven by those still employed by the same company.

South African Racing
1. Mismanagement and weak leadership led to the JSE listing that was never going to be for the benefit of racing.
2. A select group have controlled racing for years and every stakeholder has put their heads in the sand.
3. The same manipulators manufacture a Bloodstock Sales war to the detriment of small to medium breeders and everyone watches and remains silent.
4. The Western Cape is promoted as the new racing destination and everyone watches when they know full well that the region cannot support itself.
5. The trainers in the WC have hundreds of horses but can only race a small percentage in Cape Town so open satellite yards in PE and DBN where those punters essentially support the Cape owners. These same Cape Owners support very few local trainers and the Cape punters add very little to the Tote pot.
6. LW becomes the head of the RA under the auspices of "concerned owners".... a business owner that since being appointed left his business and has never returned. He must be very concerned or maybe the position just pays too well to leave but either way how has he not been voted out?????
7. There is constant re-focussing on attracting "new blood" while the captive audience the operator has is ignored and in fact treated badly for owning and punting horses on the tote yet nobody is held to account and there are no consequences. The management & media teams remain in their positions ad infinitum.
8. Punters moan that there isn't enough information and want more transparency in the hopes that they can improve their winning percentages with bookies that put zero back into racing. Unless a punter is contributing to the tote why would anyone listen?
9. Racing can be turned around quicker than people think but there needs to a will to do so by the role players, Owners, Punters, Breeders, Trainers, Grooms and Jockeys...
10 Remember the infrastructure for sports betting would not exist if horseracing had not paid for it and the future growth hinges on improving the experience of people in racing. The idea of attracting people to listen to music and drink for free will get as many new owners and punters as new Steinhoff investors.

The only growing racing jurisdictions are those without bookmakers and they are properly managed and policed in terms of the rules with proper oversight of the tote and role players especially Jockeys.
