Money at time of race is a fair indicator, the R5.7M horse, can't see them cutting it in half to win it's maiden, breeding would suggest it's looking for further, not saying it can't win, if he does, it will be on ability alone. The same would apply to Scribner, having said that, if there is any money for this one, i'd pay attention as Crawford has some decent sprinters in the yard - this one may be putting them to sleep, who knows? Agree tough one to call.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

We have had quite a bit of rain this week and the pen reported 24; good to soft, so probably a bit sticky. Cleared up today and at this stage not much wind but possible light tailwind later. Some key scratchings.
Race 1: Some very expensive youngsters and mostly unraced. Only Tintagel has good exposed form, so the key may be the newcomers. We have Elusive Victor- he is a big strong boy, and is bred for further. He has had plenty of work on the sand and has shown ability but has not had a grass gallop. He should be running on strongly and hopefully can earn a cheque.
Race 2: Secret Path and Without Limits should fight this out.
Race 3: Again the first timers hold the key. Head of the Pack is Piet Botha’s first runner as a trainer and has a place chance. Kalahari Ninja and Trip to the Sky should improve on fair debuts. The talk has been for Engage and Beware and Spirit of Song.
Race 4: Magnificent Seven is the one to beat especially after the scratching of Man about Town. He has been leniently treated by the handicapper having racked up three wins in his past four starts and only gone up 6 points. Red Peril is an old soldier and is a dangerous front runner.
Race 5: Quite open after the scratching. Star of London an unlucky loser last time and although I think she needs further, she is effective this trip. Fit and well and a big runner. Goodtime Gal and Nordic Breeze are the class mares but have to lump weight. Cape Charlotte has done better over further but is well in at the weights if this is not too sharp. Over Again ran a good race in the feature last time and must be included as she is now better off against the two top weights.
Race 6: Shamrock Wind doddled in last time and despite a high rating looks a possible banker if she shows normal improvement. Prince Oracy has been a bit below best last two, but is capable at best. Dalibhunga was very consistent prior to his last run and must be respected. Red Eight has come down in the ratings and should now be competitive.
Race 7: Very open race. Slight preference for Velvet Dawn.
Race 8: Merkaba much improved last time and if repeating is the one to beat. Trou Aux Biches and Tattoed Rocker plenty scope for improvement. Over The Way has fair form.
Race 9: Master of Spain was somewhat flattered by his proximity to the very easy winner last time, but he is improving and gets a nice draw and top jockey. He is a big runner but the price is too short. Potawatomi has run some good seconds and if not for the draw would have deserved to be favourite. Chrome Yellow is a year older and ran a decent race after a long break, and is again a danger. Rochester and The Barrister have fair form and could be involved in the finish. Parade March was outpaced in his prep sprint after gelding, and he will be running on strongly. Not the best of draws but I think a very lively place chance at a big price.

Thought both Crown Towers and Sovereign Spirit looked the picks,. Won't be surprised to see SS win here.
