my wife convinced me to take up a job offer in New Zealand late last year. I did not want to leave but in the end realised that it was probably the correct move. I so hoped that CR would pull things back and get the country on the path to recovery but it looks like there is just to much damage. I have still have a business SA which is really battling and we have just today had to lay off 20 staff. This is really sad

All this is way to complicated for me to understand. what i do understand is the damage this doing to small business and the economic prospects of the average south African.

Cant believe we have these issues in SA.

......been watching the TV load shedding update on SABC......looks like Pravin just touched on a subject that the Gupta's were not the only one taking a chop....he hinted that a very large amount of ESCUM staff had set up preferential vendors to supply them with overpriced parts, products and services.....in other words a "boetie" system.....for those that dont know what this is.....simply a person starts buying from a family member or friend who has set up a company to source product material or services at a huge mark up and the money shared in the "family".....this modus operandi was endemic in most para-statals run by the previous National Party regime but never on the scale that is being uncovered in recent times.....

....and here we are yet again.....my invertor has packed up trying to keep up with the more than 4 consecutive hours daily power cuts.... and have spent a shit load on mobile data in the past week....our neighborhood is only now got many people installing solar and many vendors are short of stock... others are again gouging by increasing pricing on current stocks....:S

......was thrilled that we got a respite from loadshedding this weekend......with SABC streaming the Wales game.....I got out my extra long HDMI cable and connected my ageing laptop to my not so smart HDTV......stocked up with snacks and made some lower calorie milk shakes.....but at halftime on the stroke of 6PM boof the power goes down
......I check on the app and still no loadshedding forecast but have not made any provision for mobile data.....nor charged any back up systems and cant remember where the candles are.....check outside and the whole neighborhood is also now in the dark....fuming I go and take a long bath and listen to the portable radio with batteries I prized out of the TV remote..... come 21 30 and still no power....decide to go to bed miffed....15min later power up....gr8 can make a cup of tea and check the rugby scores....poof off again....get back into bed....bang on again an hour later but goes down before I can find my slippers....this can only f@ck @p the remaining appliances that I have not yet had to replace.....so turn off the mains....it must have gone on all the way into the wee hours as every time the power came on the lights at neighbors' spooked their dogs who barked almost hourly.....

.....what really p!sses me off though is that I have been having a running battle with ESKOM over major billing discrepancies when they charged disconnection fees when I was not disconnected and double fee's when I was actually disconnected ....which was finally credited back to me 2 months ago.....I sent a mail thanking and congratulating them....then last month received a bill for a zero balance although I did consume my regular 400-600kWh per month(aveR1500/month) which is now constant for a year....this month I receive an account for R10K and change....and then again contact them with this major discrepancy and they tell me that they unitized my initial deposit of R1500 from 30 years ago as a credit for my acc last month.....and now are demanding a R5K+change for a new deposit(calculated as a 3 month average bill)....pure f@cking extortion I say.....and for the other R5K on the account seems like more ENRON accountancy.....but if I do not come up with this R10K by next week.....I will be camping in my own home....:S .
