All I did was give the clan the facts, which I always try to do. I never condoned anything, never took any sides.
It makes no financial sense to run 2 midweek meetings side by side during the day and there is a large reduction of turnover when racing is held early in the day/morning.
These are simple proven facts.
Lightning is and has been very disruptive to Racing, especially on the Highveld and especially at this time of year. Another fact.
And no, there is definitely NOT lightning every afternoon and every night. Tonight, there was lightning. Those are also just facts.
.......looking at the big picture about scheduling extra local meeting/s.....running 2 local meetings side by side during the week. affects turnover....and so does not holding any racing while it is being affected by the weather.....yesterday we see that early starts can be arranged for slaap stad to fit in a later meeting at Turffies.....so can they make an early start on the highveld and a twilight meeting where the sun sets much later.....and that has been done before.....and so we got through the meeting last night.....but it was a very long day......:S

I think that last night's lightning occurred exactly when a twilight meeting would have taken place....
Damn difficult to forecast or plan around. Will there be lightning tonight and/or tomorrow night? And could they definitely forsee that, when Acceptances were due...That's the problem.
