According to MR this one ran around 10 lengths below it's ability.
I think it was a De Kock horse earlier in the week or the week before that also came back from a break and ran about 8 lengths below it's MR.
I know the horses have to start somewhere but maybe they bringing them back too early after break and maybe a bit more work needed before they come racing.
Some UK trainers bring them back from longer rests and win first up so it is doable.

You are being kind. In my opinion it is only in South Africa that we race horses to 'bring them on' ... at the huge cost to punters.

Didn't appear to get the best break from the jump though, when he should have switched out he didn't and that cost him the race

Second time in a few days that Devon Habib beats our top jockeys in a close finish.
Won on Bated Breath beating Lerena on Josi Di Nero who was 7-10 and now got the better of Hewitson also on an odds on shot.
I need to give this jock a bit more respect from now on.

Yes very talented jockey that was sidelined with injury. Got married in the interim and must be hungry again!!
