So, the countdown to the season finale is upon us! With Champion elect, DO IT AGAIN, enjoying a well deserved rest ahead of a possible record breaking mission of a third Vodacom Durban July in 2020, the Gr.1 Premiers Champion Stakes has attracted a superb field in his absence. RAINBOW BRIDGE, yet to break his KZN duck after three top efforts this season, has a new threat in the form of BUFFALO BILL CODY and he will have to be at his best to repel the lightly raced import. Big points are also on offer in the Gr.1 Mercury Sprint, Gr.2 Gold Bracelet and the final bonus race of the competition, the Gr.3 Elan Gold Cup which is worth 14 points to the winner.
With only PLATINUM CLASS and NASTERGAL earning reasonable points over the weekend (9 points apiece), the lead of HORSE CARE UNIT PIX 19 remained unchallenged at 285 points, still 9 points ahead of joint second placed, DRILL THEM 19 and NEIL MOODLEY 6. Herewith a list of the top 25 leaders’ horses, with runners on Saturday denoted in yellow:
The winners of the final R500 betting vouchers kindly donated by TabGold are:
THRAN 1
FYNDRAAI 3
DURBAN 25
To those in contention, all the best for the big day!
