No need to apologize press maybe the firm you got the refund from changed thei r rules ...Many years ago before most of us started betting on the internet i proposed that when a customer gets a tote or bookies bet the rules should be on the back of the ticket so the punter knows where he or she stands ..many punters who been racing for decades still dont know the rules for all bets including the tote

Just been sent a video on whatssup close up of the incident. Hard to say who is to blame. I would blame the horse as it looked as if he did not want to be there.

Racing like most things in life is all about opinions and there have been a few on this topic. So why dont you all shake hands and move on like good boys as i am sure, like me, we have all learnt something on this thread.

I've moved on, and am happy to buy the boys a brandy in this breezy weather! I certainly learnt something that I never knew for the past 20 years. Harry sums it perfectly for me by referring to it as a "SPECULATORS" market. Almost an "unofficial" market where the reward is high, but so is the risk. The rules are nowhere close to an official betting market and that is where my confusion came in. Does it suit my style of punting? Hell no!
Anyway gents, those in the Pretoria/Centurion area, feel free to come and have a brandy with me some time. We are all a cut from the same cloth, so it would be great to hear your war stories and perhaps learn from each other!
I bid you all a good night.

I have been punting probably longer than most posters have been alive and there is no secrets to ante post betting.
You take your bet and that is it.
If it wins you get paid out at what should be a better or inflated price .
If the horse gets beat in running, being scratched, goes for another race, in fact any reason ; you lose your bet.
No sour grapes, its racing and the rules, it has to be in relationships of what the other horses were at the time, to understand the rules and fairness to both the punter and bookie.

@Harry Hotspur - Edict of Nantes was the name. He was sold to Hong Kong before he could run in the Met. Did my money on him as well in the Antepost markets.
