So true Mac,and we must not forget that the ICC has now made a ruling that if the home team makes the WC final, that they have Plus 1 run advantage which can be awarded at any time by the umpires as long as they don't follow the rules or refer such decisions to the TV umpire.

Every team that wins a World Cup has had luck on the way

All Blacks v France 2011 Final France had a penalty right at the end the ref said sorry I want to leave NZ in one piece France woul most prop have kicked the goal and won by 1 point

SA in 95 semi v France ref said no try to France in the dying seconds and we all know it was a try

Plenty more examples
The luck was with England this time

The only time you should be awarded six runs is when its goes over the boundary rope without touching the ground ..Never heard of such rubbish as giving the 4 runs plus the 2 they supposedly ran..its either 4 or 2 you cant be awarded both added together .

It has happened a few times that the keeper has missed the ball, the ball has hit the helmet placed on the ground behind the keeper and the batsmen have run through for a single. This is counted as 6 runs.

Taufel is waffling a load of rubbish

they completed 2 runs

the ball hits the batsman/bat or wickets - they are allowed to run as many runs as they can and this is added to the 2 runs already obtained

if it goes to boundary - 4 runs added

total 6

But only one completed run at the time the throw, which resulted in the 4 overthrows, was released by the fielder...when Guptill released his throw, the batsmen had not yet crossed for second run...

That's what the rules say and Taufel is correct...

Just my opinion, but having watched the replay several times I noted that Stokes has a look at the fielder, changes his angle if run more to his left and angles his bat exactly to get the ball to go in the direction it went. Would have been a good one day shot by any batsman. A runner trying to make his ground would push his bat straight ahead whereas the bat is at an angle. If he does not hit it he may also not make his ground. The clue is he immediately puts his hands up to apologise...lol. Comments like "indvertantly" or ball hits bat is neither here nor there. One cannot prove this but al of this is possible under the circumstances and knowing what was need to win the game.
