So because he posts under his own name, gives him the right to post what could be construed as death threats. Now you know why some feel safer to post under a pseudonym.
Don't get me wrong, I am just as furious at the closure of another track by the Operator(s) and the subsequent loss of jobs and livelihoods, but where was the fire and fury when 1000’s lost their jobs with the closure of Bloem and other tracks ? Unfortunately people in horse racing will only react if it affects them directly even though these other decisions affect horse racing as a whole ?

I understand that this is a huge emotional issue for many and I have voiced my opinion on the subject.
I am not sure who "Debi" is and bob probably does.
I certainly know who " Debbie" is and we have been friends for many years and she will always been a loss to SA racing.
Good Punting
Thanks for clarifying who this poster is not, Dave. I must admit I was flabbergasted to think that "Debbie" would post such an insensitive comment.
Relieved to be wrong in thinking that Debbie is this callous person. Apologies for attributing that post to her.

Death threats !! don't make me laugh. PC Brigade gone wild.
The simple truth is that there were many people opposed to the closure of Bloem & the other race tracks for similar reasons as the forthcoming closure of Flamingo. Loss of jobs etc etc.
There wasn't too much “fire & fury” because social media has only relatively recently given a voice to the masses to vent their opinions & frustrations.
Were we supposed to strike with pitchforks & torches ?
Simple, isn't it ?

Instead of spewing forth their hatred and making death threats, why don't the Kimberley trainers and other stakeholders actually take measures which Phumelela can't ignore and 'which make them sit up and take notice ? The losses of jobs, the retrenchments and such like are covered under our Labour law. I'm sure the Unions and government would be interested to hear how Phumelela came about making this decision and what it could have done and should have done to prevent this disaster, which will impact negatively on so many employees, employers and that area in general. Phumelela's argument is the loss it incurred (R23 million is the amount bandied around). Surely consultation and remedies should have been discussed and undertaken first instead of two officials just pitching up there and announcing the closure? You want to try save Kimberley racing and jobs, try something legal that might work, instead of directing serious threats to anonymous posters ?

So Albert, you need social media to give you a voice ?

My comment was made because of Flamingo"s track record pertaining to the treatment of horses there. Has the Trainers at Flamingo not been offered stables at other training centers ?

Why should I retract my statement chicken n chips .....How many horses have suffered abuse at the the hands of the very people that were supposed to Care , Condition and Train them, last being the cattle prodder incident , the bush racing etc etc etc .......As for the shoes and handbag not for me my money goes to my thoroughbreds some that raced and some that did not as I have a responsibility to ensure that they have a good life forever as I purchased and bred them . For the record I dont race anymore considering my Silvano Filly that I bred , threw her work rider off at the Vaal Racetrack during a Saturday training session managed then to run out around the back of the Vaal going through a barb wire fence severing her leg so severely that she died from her injuries . Like I always ask who talks for the Horses because that is all I really care about so put that in your pipe and smoke it ...Just a suggestion change your avatar pic its really ugly . Kind Regards Debi

I'm battling to understand why the trainers are still buying horses at the sales when the horses are going get - what - maybe 3 or 4 runs before the course closes ?
And then what happens to them ?

disgraceful comment which you should retract as Lionel says families will suffer, but I suppose you in your ivory tower wont give a toss so long as you can buy your next pair of shoes and handbag then all is well.
Any idea when you will be issuing an apology to Mrs Hawkins ?

Who cares who she is ??
Her original comment on this topic was extremely nasty, insensitive & out of order.
Had she explained why she felt she way she did in that post, perhaps it would have had some merit. Nevertheless we have all had some heartbreaking events happen to us & ours.
We shouldn't expect to get a free pass.
