Thanks OTA, was just asking about some of the dots......

To be clear, i have nothing against CPT racing, only that it should stand on its own feet, not feeding from KZN owners pots as in the past with GC and now the same with Phumelela. Why would anyone guarantee stakes contribution to a region that has not been able to stand alone for 20 years?

Let's be brutally honest, without WC racing, and it's trainers, owners and breeders, there is no racing.

The last 6 July's have been won by WC raiders, and if my calculations are correct, only 4 horses from Gauteng and KZN combined have filled the first 3 places in the last 6 years - this year not one in the first 5. So we can all throw our hands up in the air and cry Foul, but you try and squeeze what's left of the region and you may as well kiss the entire industry goodbye.

Personally I couldn't care less about the Gauteng season and I'm sure not going to get up on July morning and rush to place my bets to watch Camphoratus and Roy Had Enough fight out the finish of what would now be a Grade 3 contest, and considering Greyville's only strategy is to make enough on July Day to cover the rest of the year's expenses - I think it best not underestimate the true value of the Western Cape in terms of its contribution to racing.

Ice no one is questioning the quality of WC racing, as you say its indisputable. The problem is the region cannot generate profits through the tote and is being subsidised at other regions expense. This cannot continue.

It cannot go on you are correct. Either help for the few big races and let WC pay their own way rest of the year or stop supporting completely. 2 options.

In fact today only 62 carded at Durbanville and after 5 scratchings only 57 runners in 8 races.
P!$$ poor pathetic !!!!!!!!

And just 5 days ago 6 full floats was delivering horses for grassgallops at durbanville.....that is over a 100 horses taken for grass gallops but they refuse to run them ...... who is ripping off who ????? Why not running their horses???????

Oscar go the the RA Annual report of 2018. For ease of reference I include the link:

racingassociation.co.za/wp-content/uploa...nual-Report-2018.pdf

Go to page 7 and item 9 - Stakes Presentation.

Compare the period following the Phumelela "management" agreement and let's compare notes:

Year Highveld Increase WC Increase Difference

2013/4 6% 13% 7%
2014/5 5% 13% 8%
2015/6 4% -1% (5%)
2016/7 2.3% 33.9% 31.6%
2017/8 4.4% 1% (3.4%)

That's a clear and unambiguous story.

Let's build on the history.

www.saflii.org/za/cases/ZACT/2013/6.html

This is quite a lengthy document but take the time to go through it and you will see the influence of Jooste and van Niekerk in it. To see the absolute compliance of the Western Cape, read item 59. Those with more interest can read 56 - 66 to understand fully this whole Kenilworth Racing facade.

Insofar as stakes go read items 75 - 77.

Racing capture at its best.

www.pressreader.com/south-africa/financi...1115/281625306332072

Note the players and the timing. Its not difficult to join the dots even for the most die-hard denialist.

Brilliant work OTA as usual..it is so sad for Jhb Owners and Trainers that they risk the very future of horse racing on decisions like that. I take my hat off to GC for cutting when they did..like any business in any industry this kinda thought process cripples a business.

I see all races at Kenilworth have been re-opened on the 29th due to insufficient entries
