Quoting something from my late grandfather - A good horse isnt just about how many times he wins. A good horse will win a mile, then a derby then come back to win over a sprint. He will then go to a track he has never raced at before and win there too. Distance doesn't matter with champion horses.

I have never been a fan of Hawwaam initially, but I am tired of being in denial and ending up the fool each time after he runs. I really think that he could be the best horse this country has ever seen!

Trainer Brett Crawford has provided the following comments on his runners in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival at Kenilworth this weekend.
January 10, 2020

FRIDAY
Race 4:
Sing Out Loud: She won well and has come on. Has been given a high rating, but we expect a competitive run.

Race 5:
Indi Anna: She ran a good race last time and should again give a good account of herself despite being up in class.

Race 6:
Shamrock Wind: She is doing well, and her last effort in the Victress Stakes was excellent. It’s never easy with 61.5kg, but she will go the distance, and has a money chance.
Kelpie: She tries the trip, but there’s no reason why she shouldn’t get it. On her work she will run a big race.
Heaven’s Embrace: I think she’s very well weighted. She’s stronger now than when she was third in the Winter Oaks, and her work has been great.
Principessa: She’s game and has had a good prep. She can’t be ignored with bottom weight.

Race 8:
Magic Mike: A much better effort last time and is down in class.

SATURDAY
Race 3:
Pannington: Improved second start despite being green. He can run into the Quartet.

Race 4:
Pacific Trader: In good form. His next start is the Cape Flying Championship and he will improve. But he’s a terrific five-furlong (1000m) horse and has to be respected.
Bold Respect: Very pleasing comeback run. Has had a lot of issues but is now sound and well.

Race 5:
Charles: Doing very well and has a decent chance on handicap terms, despite a terrible draw.
Dynasty’s Blossom: She has her first run for me and I am still learning about her, but she looks very well.

Race 6:
Front And Centre: Things didn’t pan out for her in Durban, but she is in great form and has had a perfect prep. I make her the one to beat.

Water Spirit: She is there to make sure it’s an honest run race.

Race 7:

Undercover Agent: He’s in peak form and looks outstanding, but it’s a helluva tough race. Realistically I would be delighted if he finished in the first three.

Race 8:

Gimme One Night: He obviously stays well and is doing well at home. He will run his usual honest race.

Princess Irene: Expecting an improved run over the trip.

Race 10:

Regimental: He showed us a lot of ability and has now been gelded. You can expect him to improve on his recent efforts.

Race 2 - Very interesting race... Parktown the fav and deserved fav.... Doubt any of these will be going to hollywood.. I think i have found some "value" in the race at 40/1 and 5.6/1 a drum... Final Appeal... At first glance it does look like a no hoper, but looking a little deeper, he is not totally out of this, and the 4kg claim adds to his claims imo... Royal Return is currently 12/1 and when these 2 met on debut, RR finished a length infront of FA. FA is now 4kg's better off so should turn the tables on RR. Tambora should turn the tables on The Cambo with T getting a better gate this time around...

Hopefully young Solomons will put his claim to good use and help Final Appeal into the money....

Thank you Sir. Also if you look at run behind Parktown in Will Scarlett race, better off at the weights. So hoping for a decent run as well.

Why is there such a long delay between races 1 + 2?
