Ikigai 5/1 is a dream of a price. I'd price him as favourite so over the moon when I saw the betting.

Tend to agree MOMF plus Mill Queen could make it a super day.

Good Punting

Ikigai's price is insane!

Double with Mill Queen if you really want to be greedy...

A decent looking card and worth a trip to the track.
Would like to hear Tarry comment on his 2 runners in the GNS

Maybe the bookies have got it right, Ikigai was well weighted to beat Got The Greenlight last time, Got The Greenlight did that form no favours on Met day when he was supposedly well weighted, just saying.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

You can look at Got the Greenlight and come to that conclusion or you could look at John Hancock.

3 runs back, John Hancock gave Youcan'thurrylove 3.5kgs and won a short head(but keep in mind Youcan'thurrylove was ridden badly that day and should have won) - I still make him the unknown package.

In his penultimate start, he ran 5.75 lengths off Shango in the Dingaans(equal weights) - most of the principles other than Ikigai and Youcan'thurrylove comes from that formline.

In the Tony Ruffel, he got beat 5.25 lengths from Ikigai who was eased down at the line and over a further 200m(if the race was a mile), to my eye, i can only see that gap increasing. He carried level weights with Ikigai.

That line of form puts Ikigai right on top of Shango on the Dingaans run. With the extra furlong, I expect Ikigai to improve further. He has had 5 runs to Shango's 7 so I still think Ikigai has more improvement to come. Assessing the horses, to my eye, Ikigai's travels better and has a more lethal turn of foot than Shango who takes a bit of time to get into his stride - I think over a mile Ikigai might be too quick for him.

Therefore I would have priced Ikigai up at 16/10 or so - so at 5/1 I'm more than happy to take a risk. Youcan'thurrylove is my saver in the race. The unknown factor.

Good luck
