ROYAL TIGER and Acorn Alley looks like Good EW value today. Pity about the draw of SHADOW CREEK who looks suited to this trip. TITELIST in the last will come home late on and can sup

TURFFONTEIN PREVIEW, FORM AND EXOTICS - Gold Circle

The Turffontein Standside meeting today (Thursday) consists purely of plate races, including seven Maidens, but there is still some good class racing to look forward to in the four Juvenile events.

Mike De Kock has two first-timers by the promising Australian sire Deep Field in the first two events and both have been installed as favourite.

In the third Stuart Pettigrew has an exciting prospect in the Var filly Anything Goes, who is a half-sister to the Grade 1 SA Classic runner up Green Laser. She has plenty of substance and came from way back to win on debut over 1450m after dwelling at the start. She faces some well performed types here

Race 1

Preview: BADRAH (4) is by Australian-based Deep Field (Group 2 winner over six furlongs, won his first five races by a combined margin of 24 lengths including setting a course record over 1100m at Canterbury, top sire of 3 year-old winners in 2019/20) out of a placed mare who has produced a six-time winner and who is out of a half-sister to the famous Rocket Man and another Grade 1 winner Our Giant. JAVA HOUSE (8) raced strongly over 1400m last time from a wide draw but still managed third and he looks likely to enjoy the step down in trip. (David Thiselton 4-8)

Race 2

Preview: AL MUTHANA (1) is by Deep Field out of a Group 2 winner over 1100m who has produced a Group 2-winning speedster by Lonhro. HARRY'S SECRET (5) made a good debut recently when beaten 1,75 lengths into third by the promising Mount Pleasant, a race in which subsequent Strelitzia runner up Slalom Queen finished second. PHINDA MZALA (9) is progressive sort and finished second over course and distance last time to a promising sort. GRAPPLER (4) is by Trippi out of a placed Fort Wood half-sister to the like of Grade 1 winner Slumdogmillionaire. CATCHTWENTYTWO (2) is by Elusive Fort and is a half-sister to the promising three-time winner Fly Away and he can improve on his fair debut where beaten 4,5 lengths by Harrys Secret. MAXIMUS (7) is also an interesting runner here being by Vercingetorix out of the Grade 1 Allan Robertson and Golden Slipper third-placed Masked Lady.

Race 3

Preview: ANYTHING GOES (1) is by Var and is a half-sister to the Grade 1 SA Classic runner up Green Laser. She has plenty of substance and impressed on debut over 1450m when coming from a long way back to get up. She dwelt at the start that day so will need to start better over this slightly shorter trip which she should have enough pace for being by Var. ELUSIVE WOMAN (2) was beaten 2,75 lengths by the smart Mount Pleasant last time and has the same 4kg claimer aboard. WAR OF ATHENA (4) showed pace throughout to win last time and although her time as slightly slow as Elusive Woman's on the same she was carrying more weight. LA LUVIA (8) is by Soft Falling Rain out of Captain Al mare Mile High, who won four times and whose first runner by Jay Peg won twice. SHEZAGLO (9) could improve on her fair debut. (David Thiselton 1-2-4-8-9)

Race 4

Preview: AL HAAMY (4) will relish the step up i trip after a fair debut. MASTER OF DISGUISE (2) beat The Contractor narrowly when stepped up to 1450m and can confirm the form from a good draw. THE CONTRACTOR (3) subsequently won well over 1450m when kicking well off a good pace. GOLD SEASON (9) finished strongly for fourth over 1200m on his recent debut and should enjoy the step up in trip so also has a shout. ESKIMO PIE (8) is by Var out of a five-time winner over 1200m. GRAZINGINTHEGRASS (10) is by Philanthropist out of five time-winner Candy Singer and he is a half-brother to the like of Graded placed Baritone. SWINDON'S PRIDE (12) is by Oratorio out of four-time winning Listed runner up Young Caesour. (David Thiselton 4-2-3-9-8)

Race 5

Preview: LADY AMHERST (10) went close in her second start over this trip but does have a tough draw. BIRDWATCHER (6) is a small horse who finished quite well over 1200m last time and should enjoy the step up in trip. DANCEWITHMARY (7) is by Duke Of Marmalade out of the three-time winning full sister to Grade 3 winner Mr Winsome. (David Thiselton 10-6-7)

Race 6

Preview: BRAVESTARR (2) ran a fair race over 1400m in his penultimate start and should enjoy this 1600m trip after failing over 1800m. GRACE FROM ABOVE (10) is by Duke Of Marmalade out of Argentinian-bred mare Anasa who is a half-sister to the like of three-time winner Wow Holiday. PETERSHAM (6) could earn in this uninspiring field. (David Thiselton 2-10-6)

Race 7

Preview: SHADOW CREEK (2) can win this if repeating the form of his penultimate start over 1450m. BLUE SPARK (1) and TREND MASTER (3) have shown enough to be able to challenge. (David Thiselton 2-1-3)

Race 8

Preview: SANUK (12) is by Captain Of All out of the twice-winning full sister to the brilliant sprinter National Colour. COSMIC RAY (1) can be thereabouts if repeating her penultimate start. STORM REPORT (4) looks capable of earning too. (David Thiselton 12-1-4)

Race 9

Preview: INDLAMU (10) is by Pomodoro and is a half-brother to the useful Astrix. NUMBERNINETYNINE (1) has shown promise and improved last time when dropped to 1200m with blinkers so he should do well here. RAMCHANDANI ROAD (11) made a fair debut and should improve. (David Thiselton 10-1-11)

Obviously punting stable, but hear he sends his cash overseas.

Seemingly not that much money for it, so probably someone stealing the price

There’s also a big deduction with the scratching that would effected the odds at some point.
