KZN season is nearly finished and this type of low quality racing is what we got to look forward to.
Amazing how we see things differently budd.
While you looking for quality racing where the competition is really hot.
Here i am looking to pick up a winner or 3. For me. I would rather pick a 4 or 5 or 8/1 or perhaps a 2/1 of "rubbish" racing.
Backing anyone of the above is the same value in my pocket.
I see your point for on the nose punts but I'm mainly talking about exotics.
Poor inconsistent horses (and that's most of the KZN horse population) will run different races every time they come to the races so form really doesn't work out very well.
Secondly the better jocks won't be riding here too often so there will be plenty hard luck stories.
I still remember getting pick 6 carryovers with a total of 60 or 70 horses running in the whole meeting.
Plenty luck needed when the playing field is full of mediocrity at best.
Doesn't it always take a bit of luck to get through an exotic, with multiple legs, unscathed even if the quality of horse and jockey are top class? Quality was there on Saturday and still exotics paid...

I agree with you completely.
I usually look to beat the favorite as i find no value in punting short priced horses but if i look at a race and cant find value i rather stay out.

Racing like this is like spinning the slot machine. Just which horse doesn't get caught wide or miss the break on the day.

You right there Dean, plenty luck needed.
I know look at July day when our best horses where on show and the pick 6 payed 13 million.
The main thing I want in horses racing is that the form guide I buy is worth something and not just the paper it is printed on.
I don't want horse racing to be 90% luck, skill has to be involved and for skill to be involved horses need to run to something like their best every time they come to the course and we know that's not always the situation.
The excuse 'well that's horse racing' is used too often for my liking.

Can you imagine if de kock gets his way with exporting of horses being easy, all our racing would be like this. The minute a horse shows class they would go overseas

Exactly Thor.
How often have we seen a first timer backed heavily only for him to miss the break.
The very first thing a trainer should make sure of before he tells his patrons to put the money down. But as usual the horse will get the blame not the trainer or jockey.
Back to the 'well that's horse racing' excuse.

Itsapleasure should have a chance on its 2nd last run over this distance. Draw a concern but we have had runners win from bad draws today so i give it a e/w chance at 16/1

If techno captain can get up handy then 25/1 is good eachway value with 4 places.Has some decent form, but has to be up there.
