Calling Pirates..and other GC members

Hey mate i've not raced in Gc country for sometime and would like to know what night racing is like at Greyville - is it still very popular (run of the mill meetings not features) - don't really have a guide to go on as Night racing here is like a long lost love(you tend to remember only the good things so a little unbiased opinion is needed cause i'd love to change my view if it is still as popular as it was)

We get quite nice crowds(ok, it is all relative) at night meetings and they are particularly popular with families who congregate on the lawns with hundreds of kids running wild. All our on-course eateries (particular the Durban View ) are fully booked. This is even when the Sharks are playing less than a kilometer down the drag. The atmosphere at night meetings is also far better than day- time.Come and try it some time.
Cheers

Thanks Grunberger - i presume you would advocate it then - i'm really undecided but if it could attract a different crowd then i will support it

mr hawaii racing at greyville or clairwood is a great experience, believe me 6 divisions better than is gauteng and the free state where your other track is..the horses do not look like ants like they do at both your inner tracks and its great viewing..stay away from scotsville because thats a joke track .hopefully it gets scrapped altogether

Pirates but are you guys getting people to the night meetings(more so than a day meeting?) and is there that"vibe" (from what Grun says it seems there is so then i"ll taker a different viwe and support it) - what's the story with scotsville is it the track conditions that make it so difficult to find winners

definitely get more people at night and i dont know what it is but racing seems more exciting at night, scotsville its hard to actually watch the race and the facilities are not up to scratch..the course should be dug up and made into a sand track ,mind you they wont have to do much as it looks like a sand track already.. plainand simple its a shithole

the track surface is never fit for good racing because in winter it is extremely hard and if a few horses decide to have a slash it turns into slush

Pirates makes some valid points. I somehow think it is the strange PMBurg weather conditions that make George(the track manager's) job so tough at Scottsville.
The Boston Bar B Que (the main eatery) is being upgraded at present but I hear what Pirates says - particularly racing on the inside track, the horses are further away than what we are used to._
Nothing beats an evening's nite racing.
