As youngsters bunking out on a Saturday afternoon from boarding school to watch racing at Borrowdale. Mr Uren was one of those that trained what were our horse racing idols at that time. Remember a group of us that were completely addicted to racing at school. School athletics days.. pretended we were what ever horse was flavor of the day. As we scooted past one other round the 400m track.. “and here comes Swashbuckler ...” one of Mr Uren’s good ones. Loved that name.

Swashbuckler. :-) Now that’s also a blast from above. I think it was the Gilbey’s Juvenile, Ascot Byo, which Swashbuckler raided. He took up arms against the Byo champion Catagura. I backed the Cat and win he did. That was the only time the Cat ever defeated Swashbuckler (I think).

PS. I was also a boarder but as a very young lad at St Michael’s. Were you, FlyDubai, at St George’s? Oriel?
