Gareth van Zyl Raceday comments proudly brought to you by WILLOW MAGIC, sire of MK'S Pride, winner of the G2 Hawaii Stakes yesterday, and sire of Magical Flight, 3rd in the G1 South African Fillies Classic.

Race 5 : Paths Of Victory - come back run.

Race 6 : Rise - She is fit and well. Blinkers are on to help her with the drop in distance.

Mamma Pyjama - She's in good form, and she should be competitive.

Slievanorra - 3rd run after a rest. The poor draw is my only concern. Should run a cracker.

You just got to laugh at Ashton Arries.
He was riding Epic Soliloquy who finished stone last.
Horse was fading quickly coming into the straight and then he looks down wondering if something amiss with the horse and then it hits his brain that he was running four or five wide the whole race, that was why the horse was stuffed and duly decides to give it a smack with the whip, sort of blaming the horse for his pathetic ride.
It's not a one off thing as he gave Ellis Island in the race before just as bad a ride, running wide the whole way.
In my black book, wide draw don't back Arries as he is not one of those jocks that can overcome a wide draw very easily.

I’m in the UK so second hand info, but our horse Ishiestia is fancied in the 6th at 10/1 and I know there is a quiet outside chance on the 7th with Cavalieri at 20/1.

I wouldn’t back them but play each way and add into quartets.

Happy Sunday.

You don't blame punters for coming up with conspiracy theories around the crookedness of racing following days like these..
