I have been lucky to back Malmoos in most of his wins but i must say that his last run in the Classic was his most impressive to date. I think he is going to be a big factor in the KZN season.

Ali’s thoughts from Highveld Racing

COMMENTATOR COHEN COMMENTS - 3 APRIL 2021

The final leg of the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara and the World Sports Betting Triple Crown is finally upon us. The anticipation over the past few weeks has been through the roof and the chances for a double coronation must be good.

In all honesty, bar War Of Athena it is a seriously shallow Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks field. Only one other horse, Netta is rated above 100 and she only earned that figure with a bold 2nd in the Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic. There could be a few lurking in the field who are crying for this 2450m distance but so is War Of Athena. She has the tiara at her mercy.

Malmoos' most impressive win was in the World Sports Betting SA Classic. It seemed like Second Base was finding the whole race but Malmoos easily kept him at arms length. It has always been believed that he will relish extra distance but proof will be on Saturday. He may be taking on more proven opposition than War Of Athena but he has little left to prove, other than he can reach this 2450m distance. He has tons of class but has the spirit of a great horse.

Got The Greenlight could pound for pound be the best horse in South Africa. If he is at 10p% he should win his 4th Grade 1 race in the HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes over 1600. His comeback run in the Hawaii last month was superb and he should come on for the run. Trainer Stuart Pettigrew reckons he will get even closer with Expressfromtheus who has developed into a top horse while three-year-old Copper Mountain could give his age group another feather in their caps. This Grade 1 Weight For Age race is the race of the day.

The great Surcharge's full sister runs in race 1. Rapid Charge has been supported in the betting but raced runners Look Yourself and Rain In Holland will have the advantage of raceday experience.

The start of the Pick 6 which is expected to top R5million is race 4 and sprinters with grade 1 aspirations line up. Narrow preference is for True To Life who was scratched from the Senor Santa three weeks ago. She is reported to be back in good order.

The Man O'War Sprint is often a weak race. This year it is a cracking lineup and crowd favourite MK's Pride is the horse to beat. He gives tons of weight to his rivals but he has earned that following his brilliant win in the Hawaii Stakes.

This Pick 6 looks friendly to punters. My picks are below:
