Phumelela has been aware of the potential grooms strike from yesterday and accordingly arranged additional private security to be on standby and has also notified SAPS and POP of the situation.

Further, the Racing Operator has advised the local CCMA of the dispute and requested a representative to attend Fairview today in an attempt to facilitate a settlement of the matter between the employers and employees involved.

The priority is to ensure the safety of people, horses and property under the circumstances.
