Inside Info

Clanners, the shrinking punting public is being flooded with various programs and their presenters giving their assessments on every local meeting. In most cases this is freely dished out and has also seen a huge segment of punters following these broadcasts. All in all a successful initiative in terms of putting the racing product out there.

Unfortunately with all this wealth of info being dished out, punters still get dealt some diabolical results.

My question is.... from which sources can we receive the REAL INSIDE INFO in this game or is this only for the racing elite. And dont for a moment think that GRAFT is not happening...

.....sometimes I think these days that the real "graft" is giving and relaying unnecessary over confidence in the shorties ... so that they all seem to be unbeatable....

REAL INSIDE INFO is an oxymoron.

In most races you have multiple yards giving real inside information and theres always disappointment afterward.

Yes 10 runners in a race probably 8 in with a chance " doing well, should be competitive and worth an ew"
Result: one delirious owner, 2 happy with "next time out" and 5 wondering what the next plan should be?
I think you really need an exceptional or well above average horse to have a coup.
Trying to keep that low key is another story.

Plus there are many variables..........

Good Punting 😉

Since the start of betting exchanges, the graft & real information has been less reliable & mostly heresay.
The Betfair exchange win & place pools on South African racing are far bigger than the paltry pools offered by our TAB.
It is much easier & far more lucrative for the fancied runners to get beat. Plenty of available excuses, trainers & jockeys decisions play a huge part.
Decent money can be won whether your graft or fancy wins or not. Your choice.!!
Also & most importantly, the current bookmakers dont cater or want the big punters any more so there is no value in graft or even betting on racing.
How much can a few punters really win from our local bookmakers without getting banned or limited. ? The successful coup or big winning bets become a once off. The punters are then persona non grata thereafter.
In a nutshell, there is very little graft or inside information available to the ordinary punter, today.
I believe that the only way horse racing can recover & thrive again is the local introduction & legalization of the betting exchanges.

Apologies, a bit long winded & off topic there.
Bottom line, unfortunately, most of the Graft, Inside Info, Whispering birds, Barking dogs, etc etc are romantic notions that are in the past.

Morning Tony also a big fan of exchanges but the local concern was that its easier to pull a horse than win with one and the punters would be using the lay facility more than the back.

Betfair were in a position to check betting irregularities 😉

.....if one would want to pull off a big strike.....the last things to get wind of it ....are the birds, dogs punters and especially the grandstanding presenters....

.....most "graft" is carefully hidden in the exotic bets....;)

I agree with you 100%. However, the trading price of the runners, contain the Real Info, Graft etc which a punter can use to his advantage.
Yesterday, that issue with the vet allowing a bleeding horse who banged its head in the stalls, to run, is a prime example. I noticed the late drift in betting, on the exchange, & also laid way over the odds & luckily for me it ran accordingly. Whoever matched my bets had a choice to do so or not.
Nowadays current Betting odds are the true graft. The rest is too secretive for the ordinary punter & rightly so due to an inability to place large bets.

Another point with exchanges Tony.

The volume does look huge compared with local punts on Betfair.

I heard Clyde raving about the amount of money on the hot Azzie runner the other day via Interbet .

I am sure we are aware that the nature of an exchange is to match opposite views and these numbers can look massive but it can also be a rotation of the same money.
I think in the Azzie case the horse was evens 5/10 and 16/10 so it's highly probable that punters or traders were taking small percentage of profit along the way.

Sounds a bit long winded but just trying to put a perspective on traded money or matched money volume vs actual money on the horse .
