Let's be honest with ourselves, whether they race once or twice a week, the results won't change because the quality of horses running in KZN is very poor.

There is no representation from KZN in the Summer Cup, one would think at least one horse could sneak in into the final field off a light mass, not to be.

Most if not all the KZN visiting horses in the Cape right now, aren't there to qualify for the Kings Plate or the Met.

There was a race the other day, they were betting 6/1 the field, for a minute i though it was the July ante post betting.

I also choose to sit out, just thankful i have a day job to keep me busy.

When last did a KZN horse win a big race?
But why are the horses so bad?
Brilliant training tracks and a lovely climate you would think the horses would thrive in that environment.
And they race more than any other province so for an owner it would be a good centre to race in,yet it keeps getting weaker by the month.
And remember all the horses come from the same sales yet the ones that end up here seem to become the weakest in the country.
Well maybe on a par with PE.

.....it's now all about purchasing power/spend and apart from Nic Johnsson and Hollywood Syndicate there are no more bigger spenders in that upper bracket currently in KZN.... that will go for decent sorts in the R500K upwards bracket ....and the better of Mr Johnsson's lots will go to the Cape. Hollywood are bound to pick up something more than decent soon, as most their purchases often land up on my radar as well put together well mated sorts so they must have the right guy advising them.... plus they are also able to negotiate lease options with some top level farms....but those horses they are bidding on are often chased up by better shrewder bloodstock advisors/ agents bidding for the other bigger spenders like the Viljoens, Bortz&Co, Nic Johnsson and occasionally Werners and Plattner but the lines become blurred as some of the players may be using the same agent  and thus a conflict of interest ....there may be other contenders that have not as yet shown their hands and also tend to purchase through the few local agents too..... and other than that of the several other international big hitters out for the big ex-CTS Cape spectacular at the beginning of each calendar year really chase for the big sales toppers of which none of them have seemed to be as good as their price tag would indicate.....I have constantly observed that most the better bred top sire progeny are always the targets of the bigger spending few.... and the only way in to a better deal is to figure out which of the 1st season or unproven sires will fire with some better mares and the ped picture(not always relation) is a bigger chance of a ideally matched mating.....that will not cost above the average lower end spend....;)

@ Muhtiman. I think someone advised Jonsson to buy some fillies from the UK, Different Face, Hilarity maybe others as well. I thought maybe he was building a broodmare band.

Now I notice that he has sold them. What a waste of investment....

.......Covid predated that 20/20 sh!t.....was an attempt to revive Friday night racing....it did the complete opposite.....

 .....well it is according to a recent sports industry award....a big hit... a winner....the younger lot love it...gonna bring them to the tracks in droves...so we can expect much more of this high speed racing....better buy shares in Red Bull as the bookies tote operators and okes like me need to speed things up and get with the programme.....:S
