Without having watched any previews but just dissecting this field and it is apparent there is no pacemaker in the race.
Al M needs a fast run race to be able to reel the Bass in.

AL MUTHANA at 17/2 was far too big a price, on the LKP run he wins doing handstands at these terms

Totally agree , after years of coming to Durban they have now perfected the Durban crawl

My thoughts on the Features ....

Cup Trial - Competitive Handicap - Rockpool may be improving - and for those trusting Snaith & Fourie's judgement, he is probably the right one; I do think the ones drawn wider could spring something of a surprise; I make Flying Bull and Lord William big runners at the weights, with Shoemaker and Silvano's Timer next best in on my ratings - but this is a handicap, so if the Handicapper has his sums right, it should be a blanket finish - so the choice is between going with Rockpool - or putting the whole lot in, bar maybe Global Impact who is under sufferance by many kilos

Tibouchina - Marigold Hotel imo a class above these at the weights - and I think she should win if the draw is not too much of a hinderance; main danger to take advantage if she runs into trouble is Tipsy Taragon; followed by Going Up (also a wide draw) and perhaps the Van Vuuren coupling of Bon Vivant and Maharanee - who both are drawn nicely

Gold Challenge - as mentioned, the pace may be an issue, but perhaps Cousin Casey from pole position and blinkers, will set the tempo (but surely not a break-neck speed) and also the Snaiths may send out Royal Aussie; the main contenders in a smallish field should however not be too far behind - I still think the odds are not correct and imo Charles Dickens is much too short - obviously a serious contender, but imo at these odds worth taking on
