The Mike de Kock-trained Zirconeum arrived in Cape Town yesterday (Wednesday) morning for a crack at the Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas, the first Grade 1 race of Gold Circle’s Sizzling Summer Season.
She had an excellent recent preparation run at Turffontein over 1400m when slamming some fair three-year-olds in a Graduation Plate.
That was the first run as a three-year-old for the Grade 1 Thekwini Fillies Stakes (1600m) and Grade 1 Golden Slipper (1400m) runner up and de Kock will be looking to make amends for Gilded Minaret’s short-head second in this race last year.
Zirconuem has just 0,25 lengths to find with Consensual on Golden Slipper form and if initial reports that she had travelled well prove to be correct, she will be a big runner.
