Lets hope that Clyde brings back "the how it should be done" guide when he returns.

We need a second channel for the real race fans. Tellytack can continue to serve up gambling oportunities evey couple of minutes.

Perhaps the answer would be for someone brave and ballsy enough to start their own channel independant of the operators. Tellytrack is what it is, a "slot machine" of sorts. sometimes meaningless images rolling over and over. I doubt that the intention is to run as a television channel rather than a slot machine.

Proper advertisers and a sharing deal with a flexible partner could see a second, independant channel work.

Any Mavericks out there?

Personally I would rather see a close up view of the track, similar to what they do in cricket, it might give us a indication of the going etc...now we have to go through the betting!!!!

Big City Life boosts Durban July claims

Report: South Africa, Saturday

Greyville: Daily News 2000 (Grade 1) 1m 2f, turf,3yo

Big City Life boosted his already considerable Durban July claims by landing his third Grade 1 inside six months in the Daily News 2000 at Greyville on Saturday.

He was backed from 14-10 to evens and Bernard Fayd'herbe had him prominent from the start, before sending him on early in the straight.

Dan De Lago came at him in the final furlong but the favourite, despite running a littlelazily, never looked in danger of being headed and won by half a length.

Fayd'herbe, who will be on Pocket Power in the July, said: "I asked him to use a little bit of toe in the first furlong and then I switched him off. I askedhim to quicken coming into the straight and it was like riding a motor bike. You just press the accelerator!"

Trainer Glen Kotzen seemed more relieved than elated, adding: "Everybody was on edge today and thank God it's over. But this horse has done exceptionally well in Natal."

The bookmakers reacted by cutting Big City Life to 5-1 (from 6) for the July in four weeks' time. Pocket Power remains 2-1 favourite with River Jetez next at 4-1.

Big City Life is a son of the former Dermot Weld-trained Casey Tibbs, winner of the 1997 Ballysax Stakes and second in that year's Secretariat Stakes.

Also on Saturday:
Greyville: Woolavington 2000 (Grade 1) 1m 2f, turf, 3yo fillies

Mike de Kock, in England preparing J J The Jet Plane for the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, was out of luck with Forest Path and Bouquet-Garni in the Daily News but the champion trainer struck with Zirconeum in the Woolavington 2000.

Kevin Shea's mount drifted from 28-10 to 9-2 as punters, concerned about her stamina, opted for the Fillies Classic winner Gypsy's Warning.

But Shea adopted an attacking policy, striking for home a furlong and a half out, and readily accounting for a back-to-form Mother Russia with Gypsy's Warning only third.
Shea said: "The plan was to commit and see if she stayed.

"‘Striker' Strydom came past me on Gypsy's Warning before the straight when I was three wide.

"But I wasn't worried. My filly quickened up nicely and she won well. You've got to love her because she's got a big heart.

Actually BCL has 2xGr1 (KZN Guineas is Gr2)

I didn't think it was overly impressive.
I would imagine Bernie is now even more confident about the champion's chances.
