Do they not get scrutinised behind the starting stalls by the Vet here in SA ?? And as regards starting on time... I have noticed in Singapore and Dubai.. they start loading 1 minute before the off.... here, the 'loading' light goes on at the 'carded start time'

Seeing that my "going to the post" thread is going to the dogs.
I once had crocodile, I said to the waiter two crocodile sandwiches and make them snappy!

Whilst you were carrying on about your crocodile sandwiches..............
An interesting point was made by Ismikle.
What exactly are the rules regarding 'starting' in South Africa? Are they - Horses shall start LOADING at the advertised starting time? Or is the race supposed to START at the advertised starting time?
All I know is that almost without exception there is little urgency to get fields in and away on time. I'm guessing when I say this but Gauteng seems to be the best for punctuality with PE far and away the worst. I've seen plenty of sprint races in PE where loading could take up to 20 minutes!
Furthermore - we appear to hold the world record for horses breaking through the start of the pens. The boys on Betfair radio even referred to it last week - saying : 'Oh, here's RSA racing. Do you think they will load without a horse breaking through?' As they posed the question so the inevitable happened.
One also gets the impression that local clubs are totally oblivious to the fact that viewers are following a tight schedule which includes racing from other continents.

It certainly makes things worse with our dedicated single channel.
Its obvious we cant go before the official starting time, but nothing wrong with starting to load a minute or so before, not sure how good our handlers are, would be good to see our SA stats on this?
