Moore is excellent. But let's be fair and praise Spencer for his ride in the Oaks. Yes there was interference, but on a goat track like that it is hardly surprising. Tradition is all very well but there are so many fine courses in the UK yet two classics are run at one of the weirdest venues imaginable.

magicclips, running races at all these weird courses is what makes racing so interesting. One week they run a straight 6 furlong on a flat course and the next its a 6 furlong around the bend on undilating ground then its on the all weather so it all makes great racing.

Magic with you on this one, Epsom is a nightmare track for the Oaks and Derby, lets call it tradition?

That's all it is, Dave. I love the variety offered by UK courses, but championship races on a track that cambers like a torpedoed ship? I know it's the same for everybody, but still seems a bit nutty to me.

Magiclips, tomorrow at Epsom there are two 6 furlong races and one 5 furlong race. Don't miss them because you have not seen horses charge down the hill like they will tomorrow.

Whilst I agree Epsom and many other courses in the UK seem more like cross country races than anything else the Derby winner is usually won by "right" horse so to speak. The form of the race usually stands up brilliantly, I think a top horse and jock can overcome the problems of the weird track.

The actual turf this year is probably in the best condition its been in a long time, although I think with the overnight rain the going will ease up quite a bit.

So guys Ryan Moore is on Black Bear Island tomorrow, maybe he'll make the difference in what looks like the most open derby in years. BBI had my cash on before Moore was even announced as the jock so lets hope he pulls through!
