I question not the logic of the 97 as Laverna running off a 97. Technically the horse has not won a race. What does the owner do with the horse if it does not run in features. 97 MAIDEN running MR' carrying 60 odd KG or wait 2 yeard for the rating to come down to a more reasonable rating.
No 2 year old should be rated above 95 and still dont see the point of a nett rating give the 2 year olds a chance to show that they have improved as 3 year olds
The concept is likeing marking up a car only discount later. Rather mark at the correct value upfront.

If they made maidens weight for age it would put an end to the gripes about 3yo merit ratings. 3yo's could then start on a merit rating that would give them a chance to earn stakes while proving how good they are instead of the current scenario where the good ones jump up to a merit rating close to their potential from one win while the moderate ones have to spend the rest of their 3yo career and sometimes part of their 4yo career proving that they are not as good as their post maiden rating.

it doesnt matter how many races a horse has won or not sly ,what matters is who the horse has competed against ..my kazzie has run 2nd n 2 GROUP ONE RACES so what rating do you think the hcapper should give her..a 65 perhaps..

Well, not too surprisingly the train smash happened. Good luck to the connections and another triumgh for Stephen Page, but if a 3yo wins any big races for all ages fillies I will be amazed. Mind u, I couldn't have any 3yo in the last July so I'll shut up now.

I'll maintain that Croc Valley is a horse to keep tabs on. She was pulling hard all the way around the turn. Still very green.
Perhaps she will go for the Paddock Stakes? Can she beat River Jetez? Probably not!!

Croc Valley will win her races. She ran on nicely and is still very lightly raced. But the Paddock Stakes? In 2011, maybe. Not for me this time round.
