IT is a game OF CHANCE...
they have a CHANCE to BLUFF you, and a CHANCE to take your money..
same applies to woody's 2 runners a while back in DURBAN..
4/10 and 5/10.....

I wonder what would have happened if the following had transpired:
There was a horse in Cape Town Saturday called "Robert the Bruce", the form of which has also worked out rather well.
The horse was opened up at a much more respectable 6/1 (I think) and the horse drifted out all the way.
Same issue as with Mana Mou. Won his debut race and was rested. The form worked out well.........
Whats the difference? I wonder if too much was made of the form and of the form line behind Mana Mou? (Especially in the press and on ABC)
When the bookmakers saw this they saw an opportunity to price the horse up at a rediculously false price, as they knew most punters whould take whatever they can at whatever price. Not so for the CTN horse. Same good form in arguably a stronger racing centre, but no big deal regarding the form so no big price, same result in both races. The rested horse runs downfield first run out of the maidens!!
Racing is hard and there are many people out there trying to take advantage of "good things".
All I can say is it should be up to all of us personally decide when/where/how to punt horses. If you have "rules" that say you will never back a horse on the "2nd run after a rest" run then you shouldn't. If you say that you will never back "odds on" then you shouldn't. If you say you will never back a horse first run out the maidens then you shouldn't!!!!
You don't back horses with other peoples money, you back horses with your OWN money!!!
.....So why listen to everyone else expect for yourself?
Just my opinion guys, just my opinion!

Remember Bastille Belle last year?
Looked like a Monster in her sand win and never, ever ran back to her early promise.
Of such are broken hearts made.
Tough game this racing!!!

Racing have many different steakholders, each with their own objective.
Trainers wanting to live their passion.
Either a natural progression from being a rider to a trainer or perhaps having had the passion for horses.
Surely NOT FOR THE MONEY.
Jockeys wanting to make a living, purely by physical size, the career is chosen or following in the footsteps of dad.
some attain financial freedom, others (most) have wasted the fame and fortune by the time they turn 50.
Owners wanting an escape, the thrill of a JULY winner, or purely having enough money to be part of the elite.
Studfarms are surely in it for the money.
Money that will come form the elite, or lately from sindicates or the middleclass.
Bookmakers are in it for the money.
Purely money.
Punters are mostly in it for the "GAME" and dont see it as a "BUSINESS"..
Bookmakers make a living on these "GAME" punters..
Phumelela exist because of these "GAME" punters...
Bookmakers exist because of these "GAME" punters..
All of the above have their existance because of the "GAME" punter..
the "GAME" Punter pours in about R205m per month into the tote system..
>27% goes to taxes..the remaining R150m is won and paid out by the tote..
which makes the "game" punters, about 100,000 of them, pour in another R18 per day.
When short priced fav like Mana Mou looses, these "GAME" punters must pour in more.
Why, the professional punters and bookmakers scoop the pools.
The debate amongst the professional punters will continue..collateral form..2nd run after a rest..maiden etc..
By professional punters, I refer to the bookmakers and the few punters that see the industry as a BUSINESS.
These Professional punters know when they have been dealt 2 ACES...
the tipsters start feeding the "GAME" punters weeks in advance.....
see the www.saftote.co.za page..every week..
The horse must be short..everyone believe that it its a "JULY WINNER"
Once a month..or lately 2 or 3 times a month..the "PROFESSIONAL" punters are dealt 2 ACES..and the funny part..the table holds 2 ACES too..
How can these "PROFESSIONAL" punters loose..
This has to be..else the PROFESSIONAL PUNTERS will not exist..
WHY..
Because the INDUSTRY has never been build on solid "WARREN BUFFET" principals, but rather on "GEORGE SOROS" pricipals...
