Willie stopped riding a long way out by what I could gather and looked like one of those "prep runs" I believe she can come back and win again. She ran well for most of the race I thought

no al you watch a different race to what i see. it is clear the filly did not enjoy the race. watch her ears in the replay. i think maybe she is sore? or maybe she just do not want to run anymore. this thing does happen a lot with fillies.
i dont now how you think she can win another one with that run, it was really not good.

Thanks for your hospitality as always Dave.
I will be interested to hear the jocks comments but in my opinion Mad Mike's posts are not far off the mark - she did not enjoy today at all.
On the positive side the hype around the farrier was well placed!

i had a filly that raced in cape town in the very late eighties. she win two of her first 5 starts and was really very well thought of by her trainer. in the last win she is very hard pressed to win and got one or two "reminders" from the late andre du preez in the final two hundred. she never run another place after that run. we pay for another 18 months or so trying everything, long layoff and back to farm, various different training technics. (sheep friend also!! ) cost us a fortune. trainer tells us she is a real bitch and hates to run. we decide enough is enough.
she was a very nice mare and we raced three of the babies ourselves before selling her to lionel cohen where she lived a happy live. my message is very simple, if the classique is sour and dont want to run you are in for a long frustrating lesson, giving sheep and new surroundings wont always work. speak to uncle george if he are honest he will tell you the best advice and you go buy another horsie and enjoy your racing again.

I never saw a replay of the race, but my first impression was that Willie the sheep would have given that horse a more vigorous ride. Wait till next time
